Hammerrrrrrrrrr BEAT!

You are not invincible...MONADO...ENCHANT

What's the best set up for Reyn? Currently I've got him with 3 spike gems, 2 hp and then attack up/stability.

For skills I've tried to give him a good variety of offensive/defensive moves, but have some of his more tanky moves upgraded and on standby when needed like guard shift or last stand.

Also is bone upper/sobat worth it? I replaced one of them with magnum charge and having just bone upper seemed like a waste of a slot.

>guard shift
Don't use it. The best defense is a good offense, killing enemies faster means less damage taken.
Always use bone upper/dive sobat together for the agility debuff. Drop magnum charge unless you're planning on using sword drive too.
Keep wild down unless you have someone else capable of toppling. Your best auras are berserk and last stand, and you should always have aura burst due to the powerful debuff it brings.
Lariat/war swing are good for AoE, with war swing being vastly superior if you have an arts heal gem and are surrounded.

oh okay, cool. I got sword drive and war swing equipped. Been using Rage instead of berserk and stacking that with spike damage.

Lets not lose our heads though!

That's perfectly fine if you're intending on actually using reyn as a tank, rather than a tanky DPS. Both options are perfectly valid. If you're using him as a tank, then I'd recommend sticking with rage and last stand as your auras of choice. Rage is bread and butter, with last stand being saved for times when you know he's gonna take a shitload of damage or potentially die.

Dunban's the dedicated Tank/DPS combo atm.

MY

Make reyn a DPS then, you don't particularly need two tanks unless you're running a crit heal party with no healer.

and other lies you can tell yourself

What's the best team? I'm up to the forest right now and rocking Shulk/Dunban/Sharla. I've played through much of the game before so it's okay to talk about Fiora.

How do I build Reyn again? It's been 10 years since I played. I don't remember which of his red physical skills are worth it, or if I should just give him Wild Down and then 7 auras.

ive played a decent portion of the game (just got to the high entia city) and i feel like im doing something wrong
the game itself just isnt clicking
im enjoying it, but i really dont see the whole "game of the decade two decades in a row" stuff, maybe my expectations were just too high

the state of JRPGs was abysmal when the game first came out on the Wii. its still a great game, but recent years have had good stuff coming out again so it isnt so special anymore

7 is the best character in the game bar none, dunban is best tank literally unhittable by physical attacks with proper setup, last slot should be shulk if you need monado arts or really anyone you prefer if you dont

Brainlet here what makes the last party member better than dunban or reyn? So far she's been pretty mediocre in both tanking and dps, what did I miss?

Not him, but she can't be hit either and there's a setup where she does nonstop neverending critical hits.

>dunban is best tank literally unhittable by physical attacks with proper setup
What's the proper setup?

Speed shift aura and versatility, she can tank hits and heal them off with crit heal double attacks, not as good as dunban at tanking but not a big deal if she pulls aggro.

Speed shift also gives her the most consistent high dps in the game due to the ai not fucking up like with melia or shulk

i love how the shulk AI commits suicide with battle soul

Serene heart and linking 7's skills for guaranteed crits on double attacks and other agility modifiers, only thing he'd need to worry about is the ai not refreshing the aura on cooldown
XB1's AI is kinda shit sometimes

Yeah, Buttcrack, Duncan and Ricky is my favourite party.

>start playing game
>play as Shulk for hours then realize you can swap characters
>play as Reyn and have fun
>fight a Mechon
>takes Shulk like a whole minute every encounter to think to use Enchant or the slash thing that inflicts Break
>go back to exclusively playing as Shulk

Yeah I usually play as the third character and have Dunban/7 on AI at all times because Melia and Shulk are my favorites and they're both fucking awful on AI

anti mechon equipment is good for that situation. dickson sells it once you get to the fallen arm

What should I be using as my third until I get 7? Just rotate people to build up affinity?
Also, are there any character pairings in particular I should prioritize getting affinity for for whatever reason?

My favorite is when he uses speed when the enemy has 1 HP left

you can really use any combination you want unless you are fighting super bosses. sharla is considered garbage generally, but i beat the entire game with her in my party back on the wii

Shulks A.I is fucking infuriating sometimes.

I was playing as Reyn and I got to that battle where you meet Otharon, Shulk would not use enchant at all and I ended up dying. Later I got to Satorl Marsh and Shulk is using in enchant in nearly every fucking battle.

>you eventually get to fight alongside Dunban
Oh fuck yeah, definitely getting back to playing it now

Important links are mostly with 7, dunban needs a purple link with Riki if I recall for a huge agility boost.
Melia and Sharla are important to get at least purple with.
Other than that just use whoever, characters with good AI are Dunban/Reyn/Riki

sharla AI is good because all of her abilities are reactive heals

What's so bad about Sharla? She's a medic, right? Or is Melia better for that... or is there no need for a medic I don't know shit about what makes a character good or bad in this game when I played it on 3DS I died a lot. Granted I didn't do as many side quests then as I do now

If DE is like the original her AI will sometimes just not cool off until it overheats which has fucked me over many times. I have better experience playing as her.

Crit healing is the go to for heals on physical parties, other than that riki has a great heal and when paired with shulk makes for a better offensive heal setup

there really isnt need for a medic unless you are trying to fight mid game enemies that are a few levels higher than you. but end game content revolves around being DPS gods with crit healing or dodges, so since she sucks at damage output she falls off

Is Crit Healing a Gem thing I don't have yet or something?

Its a skill in dunban's trees, link it and 7's guaranteed double attack crits for all your healing needs

Wot a buncha jokas.

GOOD THING I'M HERE? NO? ANYONE?

I like to switch up my party. Rolling with one party gets boring.
