The shadows are horrendous and make everything look flat. Also, the karts do not look like they are in motion. There's no energy in the drawings. they tried to remedy this by adding blur to the wheels. Awful. The karts also look out of place. It's moste gregious with the guy on the far right.

I don't know who they contract to do the cover art for these games but they'd be better off just modeling a screenshot ingame and using it as the cover. CTR and the Crash Remake trilogy both have pretty mediocre cover art.

"Flattening" the image with shadows and rim light is a common stylistic choice that's used for making things "pop" more. Pretty sure that was the case here. Overall, it's hideous but it's simply supposed to appeal to children and show what the game is about. You are kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of artwork in general so I don't know what you were expecting.

not 1:1, if you're a sweat on the original then the remake will feel a lot more accessible for casuals while still maintaining a skill ceiling (U-turns, USF)

Maybe if it was more properly framed like one of the original covers. This looks nice up close but looking at the thumbnail it's difficult to get an accurate gauge on what it is. Just looks like a mess of orange and yellow. You want the cover to pop if you're wanting someone to notice and buy it at the store
