This game was so close to being really good but there were some oversights like blade weapons being OP as fuck on zoids with high turning. AI was also complete garbage but it was lots of fun fighting friends. I got really good with the Shield Liger and could hold my own up to the Iron Kong against a friend of similar skill. Good game and a sequel could have been really special. Wish Zoids wasn't dead in the west.

I actually put it only my soft-modded wii recently. Found out someone actually made an action replay code to unlock the Shield Liger DCS-J which was exclusive to the Japanese version (but I remember every guide said you could get it in the US version as a kid). Spent way too long figuring out how to convert AR codes to Ocarina but I finally got to play as this sexy beast.

The old lore is that zoids were originally native metal-based creatures that were modified for military use until humans eventually learned how to grow/repurpose zoids cores (basically their organ system) and produce their own. Now I havent watched Wild so it might well be garbage but that's obviously what they were going for and I think it's cool.
