Pressing jump in the air lets you fly using the d-pad, but you can only use it for shorter time than Tails can fly.

Homing Attack, can use a boost meter for Chaos powers. Either give him a fake emerald so he can use all of them at will, or unlock more of them as you collect emeralds in special stages.

Can slow her fall using her wings, kind of working like a Knuckles glide but you don't automatically move forward, along with climbing. Gets a radar to more easily find special stages.
>Omega
E-102 Gamma's time gimmick from Adventure 1, but applied to 2D. Can shoot projectiles.
>Metal Sonic
His SRB2 moveset translated to 2D. Can hover without losing height if he keeps up his horizontal speed, and can break spikes if he builds up enough speed.
>Silver
Can grab enemies from a distance and throw them, and reflect projectiles with a well timed button press. Has a float that's similar to Charmy's flying, but slower yet lasts for longer.
>Big The Cat
Joke character. Heavy, slow, doesn't come with a Spindash and requires rolling down hills to get anywhere. Can be used to unlock secrets by fishing in certain spots.
Omega can defeat enemies by simply running at them when at full speed, but takes longer to reach that point.
Vector jumps forward with a biting attack and keeps momentum if pressing A in the air. Using it underwater turns his movement style into a "torpedo" where you steer him.
Charmy can spam A to create a buzzing forcefield around him, allowing him to deflect projectiles and defeat enemies. Keeps momentum.
Espio can wall jump, and has a 2d version of how Speed characters in Sonic Heroes "jump" to enemies when attacking.
Metal Sonic can turn the speed he's moving instantly to another direction. For example, pressing up will cause him to move upwards at the velocity he was moving, or can flip directions instantly without losing speed.
Cream is Tails but with better vertical ascension but lower horizontal flight. Animals she saves give her random items/rings.
Shadow has a gun

Knuckles: Glide and climb, and his punching combos from Adventure 2.
Amy: Hammer jumps, but on all surfaces including walls.
Blaze: Boost and hover, fire immunity, charging and shooting fire lasers across the screen.
Shadow: Boost, homing attack, Chaos Spears, and Chaos Control which also redirects momentum.
Rouge: Glide plus flap, climb and kick.
Omega: Hover and shoot.
Metal: Air boost, and a glide that maintains vertical momentum.
Espio: Wall jumps and very temporary invisibility + invincibility.
Charmy: Flight, immunity to sticky surfaces, and can use flowers in certain zones.
Vector: Better swimming.
Silver: Hover, deflecting projectiles via precise timing (similar to Espio in practice), grabbing and throwing enemies, and the extended teleport dash as seen in 06.
Cream: Flappy flight and Cheese
Big: Belly flops and fishing for secrets, deals fucktons of damage to bosses with his umbrella.
I feel like amy is almost more qualified to be power.
Good news! They all have the power of teleportation. Bad news, they don't know how to use it properly so they fuck off for the entire game. Oh but don't worry, Classic Sonic is an entirely different character now so you can still have control over him.

he's supposed to be "created from Emerl's data" by Eggman so I don't see why not. I don't think the canon says otherwise.

blaze can have a boost attack like the rush games but instead of using a meter just have it be more like a dash or something I dunno. replace sonic's insta-shield from 3 with that flame thing.
I don't care about the rest so fuck em, just steal some ideas from romhacks I'm sure there's at least one for each of them floating around

How about letting him grapple on to walls and ledges with his fishing rod, and gain a shitload of momentum from rolling down slopes
shit, if they retextured a Might/Heavy combo from Knuckles chaotix to be Big and a giant spike ball, that would be fun to play on proper level design actually.
