Why did it fail?
Why did it fail?
fuck all genre diversity, no games, god awful controller, disgusting looking games that run like shit, and the only thing it has going for it is a rabid delusional and autistic fanbase.
it didn't
>no games
>horrible graphics even for the time
>awful attempt by Nintendo to integrate a disk drive
>had to compete with the PS1
it was dead on arrival
Nintendo shot themselves in the foot by being so scared of pirates ripping their game cd's that they stuck with cartridges that cost more to produce and held less data which hamstrung developers and lead them to other platforms that could suit their titles.
it didn't
They pissed off important 3rd party devs while Sony was handing out olive branches.
>disgusting looking games that run like shit
>horrible graphics even for the time
FMV sequences must have pulled the wool over your eyes.
N64 was pretty obviously graphically superior to the competition during actual gameplay.
I don't think they were worried about pirates, they were just interested in nickel and diming customers and reaping royalties.
>N64 was pretty obviously graphically superior to the competition during actual gameplay.
nah, even the best looking games like conker look and run like blurry asshole.
I've never seen someone in my life say the N64 failed
N64 games aged like milk
not a single one looks good
Everyone fell for the disk meme and foisted 20 years of load screens on us just so they could have extra space for prerendered cutscene garbage. The industry is just now recovering by switching to SSDs and finally killing spinning rust like they should have 2 decades ago.
Cartridges were the right move and anyone with a 3 digit IQ knows it. Disks have held back the industry ever since their introduction and should have never been a thing in the first place.
fortunately nintendo launched four different home consoles since this one so it doesn't matter at all
They were all about as bad as the n64 unfortunately
Which 3d ps1 game looks "good" now? All 3d games from that generation look like shit. If anything, Mario 64 still has a lot of charm compared to the ps1 resident evil and metal gear games
>nogamescube
>wii, the shovelware machine
>wii u, need I say more?
>switch, the (downgraded) port machine
yeah not much of an impressive legacy
>Which 3d ps1 game looks "good" now?
Spyro
none of the consoles in that generation truly failed
crash as well, and mgs, and any square game basically.
It didn't.
>hourly N64 threads
>nobody talks about PSX
>nobody talks about Saturn
>still makes fanboys seethe 25 years later
Based
>spyro
lmao, the might as well say none then. Spyro's shitty 3d graphics aged as well as mario and zelda 64
Spyro looks a lot better than Zelda and Mario, objectively speaking.
Sony wanted revenge so they obliterated Nintendo
>a lot better
>objectively speaking
Your nostalgia is playing tricks on you
paper mario
Nope
It didn't fail, in fact most zoomers remember it more fondly because of mario and zelda
we have threads about individual PS1 games on a pretty consistent basis
there are a lot to choose from so its hard to condense them all into one thread you know
Every day still, Vore-loving Furry OP?
>god awful controller
Sure, it wasn't by any means perfect, but somebody saying it's complete shit is the easiest way to spot someone who never even seen this thing in real life, let alone played on it.
Majora's Mask
WWF No Mercy
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie
Conker's Bad Fur Day
All Star Baseball Series
please don't make baseless accusations
How is the controller god awful besides the analogue stick that wears down over time?
>we have threads about individual PS1 games on a pretty consistent basis
Not really.
Is this that same 15 year old that we doxxed?
speak for yourself nostalgia drone
you named it, but there are numerous other issues.
>le 3 hands
try again
it had to compete with snoy's second best console with flawed hardware and carts while snoy adopted cds
Not even close
goddamn spyro had soul
Yup
Great cherrypick.
BTW Zelda still looks better, even if they're both horrible emulation screenshots at the wrong ratio.
Most likely.
Here comes the super cope 64.
cope
saturn sucks
I mean, the buttons feel nice, and when you have a working stick, it does feel nice to a degree, but man, are those analogue sticks built to fail, and it's analogue stick was outclassed by the Saturn 3D pad's stick less than a year later
tell us what those numerous other issues are.
Great comparison, asshole. Here, two can play at this retarded game
Sure, hyper fragile plastic resulting in a very brittle controller prone to self destructing, no viable replacement parts that don't require pain in the ass reassembly of a complicated analog stick module, varying length handles results in the natural orientation being at odds with the analog stick directions making your north more a north-north-west to the analog sticks north. It's clear the design wasn't thought out very well, and Nintendo should have been more decisive in their controller design instead of the pussyfoot approach they took.
spyro still looks better, nice 2d trees in zelda.
