Here's how I'd do a SMRPG 2:
>An exiled Koopa villainness comes along with strange new magic and usurps Bowser and locks him up
>Effortlessly knocks over the Mushroom Kingdom too, locking up Peach as well
>Meanwhile, Mario and Luigi, who were currently on vacation in Sarasaland, find out about what has happened and come to to the rescue
>Party characters are Mario (obviously), Luigi the white mage, Daisy the black mage, and Wario the tank
>Areas are surreal and unfriendly versions of levels from old Mario games, like nightmares based on old memories
