I'm what you might call a castlemanic, so I'll put out my opinion
Sidequests drag it down. Grinding in these games is the worst part, and this is just adding more.
Paintings are cool but they detract from the castle and you have one of the smallest and disappointing castles behind OoE.
Finishing the game off by making me do the same 4 paintings again is worse than SotN's upside down castle. The upside down castle had some cool stuff. The paintings JUST have the classic monsters.
The only thing this game has is the 2 character system, but that's fun I guess.
