Also if GOG won't have revenue, it will just dissapear and there won't be "free" installers anymore.

Unlike DRM storefronts, GOG offers a safe place to have backup copies of your game, ones guaranteed to not have bitcoin miners or viruses. I know you won't get those if you torrent safely and don't just download whatever you find on the internet, but not everyone is that internet savvy. GOG simply taps into that market.

That's not intrinsically true, especially in the modern industry. I do buy off GOG though partly due to guilt and laziness.

I'm happy for GOG. I genuinely enjoy their service a lot and I hope it thrives.

After rutracker got busted up it's a bit harder to get some stuff. For example Rain Worlds torrnt is still ver 1.0 and some things don't even get published since nobody cares enough to put then there.

Because I can play some actually good old games that I never got around to completing, like the Might and Magic series. I don't have the old source disks, nor the know how to get that shit running in dosbox. But I'm happy to throw them a couple of bucks per game when they're on sale.

Because I like to support DRM-free releases.

I wish GoG all the success in the world, and not for some faggy "muh pro consumer!"-reason. Being able to keep an installer on my harddrive or USB genuinely makes a difference to me. There was once a huge internet-outage in my area that caused us to be without internet for a week (I live rural).

I swear it was like going back to the dark ages for a week, but I had a few GOG games in my Downloads-folder and it felt so good to not have to worry about having to be online, activation or DRM. It doesn't sound like much but GOG totally saved that week for me and I've always felt fondness for them after that.

After that week it's always the first place I go looking for a game I want.

Why is okay to buy game on steam but on gog?

Only thing I would actually like from them is the encourage for source code releases of old games.

Because it shows the industry to not put gayass DRM in their games. Making your piracy easier.

This. I have to work with bunch of old PC in different rural areas and there's a lot of downtime. Having a USB with old games so I can play them where ever with no hustle is a godsend. Crowning moment was playing some old shit with a bunch of engineers in a meteorologist station.

FireFlower Games and Zoom Platform are 100% DRM-free.
Both (at least at some point) were recommended by GOG.com in the FCKDRM website.
itch.io is 99% DRM-free.
GamersGate and Humble Bundle have a lot of DRM-free builds.

CP2077 pr have. Don’t know how closely they work with CDPR though.
