Why does everyone seem to shit on DS2? Is it really that bad, it's the only one I haven't played yet because of many people telling it's the worst one
Why does everyone seem to shit on DS2? Is it really that bad...

Just watch a video of the very beginning of the game (intro, grandmas place, tutorial and arrival at Majula) to get a taste of what a mess this game was.
I really didnt like it, coming from demon's souls and dark souls 1 it really had a bad exeprience overall. It surely is the most ambitious out of all the titles though, i can give it that.
>It surely is the most ambitious out of all the titles though
Maybe the original concept for the game, certainly not the released product.
DS2 is awesome.
Lot's of possible build variety and shit to do. It's of lesser quality than the others but there's a lot of cool ideas they didn't bring back. If you don't mind bad textures and lesser graphics or whatever check it out.
Lore's a bit shit though tbqhfamalamdesu.
It's the shitfling magnet of the series, a lot of people (including me) complained about it on release and didn't like it but ever since that one video released the entire fanbse became obnoxious about it.
Personally I didn't like it, but I also don't pretend that just because 2 was shit that automatically means that 3 is good just because it was different, hell I liked 3 even less.
It's the best game. Don't listen to redditors who worship youtubers.
I felt the same way at first but it grew on me. I go back to it more than any of the other games.
i like it a lot more than DS3. somehow playing this game feels more tactical. people complain about the gank squads in this game but I like running around trying to avoid multiple enemies and waiting for an opportunity to get hits in. backstabs are way more satisfying in this game. build variety is infinitely better. magic and miracles are actually viable. the level design is more varied and interesting than DS3 where half of the game is just a grey swamp and the good levels are only towards the end. it has really garbage bosses but i don't play DS for the bosses, always enjoyed playing the levels more, and they are just more interesting and varied in DS2. i also like that this game being much slower makes it much less about how fast and quickly you can press roll, because stamina is such a precious resource, it feels so much more like a classic souls experience where it's about planning your moves above all. it's a good game.
it looks like total shit due to the botched lightnings, but someone is working on a mod that is going to fix it. youtube.com
Them downgrading it and not announcing it until the night before release certainly didn't help.
DS2 is still leagues above all the copycat Souls-likes. Skipping 1/3 of a trilogy because vedditors told you not to is retarded.
>miracles are actually viable
HAHAHAHAHA
>DS2 is still leagues above all the copycat Souls-likes.
DS2 is way worse than salt and sanctuary which manages to be exactly what DS2 needed, a game that took souls formula and gave it completely new lore and set of mechanics.
Yes, it's fucking shit. It literally looks and plays like a shit-tier chink clone of DS.
DS1>DS2>DS3
just play it faggot, might not be as good as the others but still pretty decent
DS2 is a very good game but a mediocre dark souls
It gets a bad rep because everyone says its the worst in the series, but its still a great game imo.
They unironically got filtered by basic game mechanics like not using lock on against 5 opponents surrounding you and running forward without being aware of your evironment
Honestly my biggest issue with the game, that I noticed even more when I tried to play it again recently is the combat just feels awful.
Nothing really feels like it has any impact, the enemies seem to react in weird ways and it just feels so lightweight and floaty.
The enemies and bosses weren't very interesting or memorable as a whole, the last sinner is the only one I can remember well.
The whole game just honestly feels like a mess. Areas, enemies, items just all feel thrown together at random, it's also all ugly which doesn't help its case at all.
I haven't played it through since release and every time I've tried I just can't even get past the first few areas without wanting to stop, which isn't the case with any other souls game. It's got some good ideas but it's so deeply flawed compared to the others in the series that it just feels bad.
I've sounded super negative about it, even so it's still better than a lot of other games and worth at least 1 play through.
Objective truth.
>2D platforming monkeyface game
No
very low IQ only people with high IQ can enjoy a game like Dark Souls 2
>sperging out about monkeyface when DS2 is ugly as a fucking sin and full of WoW-esque trash tier designs both for enemies and armor
It's not best DS entry but it's ok. If you like 1 or 3 or Demon souls you should probably play it.
My typical DS2 playthrough lasts until i hit Tseldora. The level is such a boring, badly designed slog with one way passages that don't loop back to higher levels unlike Catacombs in 1 or Cathedral in 3 i simply drop the game there.

different day, same shit.
what?
Visually and level design wise it's a lot like the second half of DS1. Lots of low effort areas. Overall as a game I liked it more than 3.
Objective in what way you mongrel.
I beat the entire game with a melee build without upgrading adabtability once and it was still shit
It's a mess. But it's still fun to play it just suffers from no cohesive vision. Level design on the DLC areas is killer though
One of the worst games of all time easily. Tied with Fallout 4/76 and Anthem for biggest flops in gaming. Awful.
stop listening to Zig Forums and play it for yourself.
It's bad, and SOTFS is even worse somehow.
