How do we fix the fighting game genre?
How do we fix the fighting game genre?
By getting good.
START.
PLAYING.
TEKKEN.
SF5 is just the worst fighting game ever
So what exactly is wrong with webm related?
why?
NOOOOOO ZONING CHARACTERS SHOULD NOT USE THEIR TOOLS TO KEEP ME AWAY IT'S UNFAIR THEY SHOULD ONLY DO NOTHING BUT TRY TO BLOCK MY 50/50 MIXUPS WITHOUT INVINCIBLE DP
Basically
>Jumped straight into an aerial fireball
>Dashed straight into a poke
>Can't shield to save her life
>can't check dalsim's footsies.
That's some grade a scrubbery right there.
SF5 is the worst SF by far. Its not even worth playing as anything other than a party brawler like Smash. Play Tekken or any of the other dozens of decent 2d fightan games with an actual community
looks like a NRS game
make all zoners illegal.
either play rush down or grappler, anything else is big gay
ST but more balanced.
So GBVS?
Stop catering the gameplay towards the casuals/normies who will never stick with the game past a week by watering down the gameplay as much as SFV has. Good netcode, good tutorial, and good training mode. It's not that difficult.
even if that happened you’d still have to learn neutral which you probably haven’t since you complain about zoners.
You stop trying to change a genre that doesn't appeal you. They're not for you, move on.
- Cross-console crossplay and breaking the FGC's reliance on a single console in general
- break the FGC's reliance on capcom
This past gen we had a bunch of fantastic fighting games like Killer Instinct, Pokken, etc get shafted and largerly passed over in favor of ones which were far more competitively flawed just because they were on PS4 or were by capcom
why?
>jump when your opp cant AA you easily
>rush so much that you get stun by Dhalsim
>not a single block
Guy needs to fix itself first before fixing any fighting game
ST is a simple ass game with somehow more depth than SFV which is sad.
I love how the FGC says crap like this, then cry about anything that isn't a Street Fighter or Tekken derivative.
I don't cry about them, I just don't play them. Rising thunder sucked and platform fighters are boring. For Honor is fun and that's sort of like a fighting game in ways.
There were a lot of problems. The first being shit netcode. It's rollback, but poorly implemented. So one person will be lagging to hell and the other won't feel it at all. The game was initially ridiculously shallow and a lot of people had problems with it saying it was trying to copy GGXRD with things like range based normals. The game has gotten better with each update, but the first 2 years killed a lot of good will.
It's not 2016 anymore. The only people who say stuff like that are people who are still up Capcoms asshole. If you mean 2D or 3D fighters in general, I'm not sure what to tell you. There's only so much versatility a genre can have.
Don't buy the ones with shitty netcode.
what if i don't want to play KikeZ's shitty marvel clone or that one pony game that people pretend to like
in 4 you could just do the charge counter thing, don't the have that in 5 anymore?
play garou or last blade 2 then
Fightcade/redggpo exists.
CvS2 has a decent-sized community of people who play on Dolphin netplay.
SNK has a few games with re-tooled netcode that play phenomenally and the new Samsho Collection has rollback.... There are tons of ways to play fighters with great netcode.
Keep meter management in 2D fighters
stop trying to close the gap between pros and the rest of the players
don't design for casuals
don't balance for pros
especially don't design for useless fucking spectators
go the Dead or Alive way of doing combo damage and scaling (which, in it's most basic explanation, would mean lower combo damage overall)
universal defensive options (parry in 3S, 4-Way Holds in DoA, etc.)
also if you're going to have a """"""""""zoner"""""""""" then understand that zoning should extend beyond throwing a single projectile over and over again in a straight line (or a single fixed path in general)
see webm related
Grapplers, zoners and rushdown are all cancer. Shotos are unironically the only fair and acceptable fighting game characters.
Get bodied scrub.
No. It needs to be Street Fighter.
>a lot of people had problems with it saying it was trying to copy GGXRD with things like range based normals
Hold on, are you talking about proximity normals? Those have been a thing in GG as well as SF for most of their existence. I'm pretty sure SFV was the one to do away with them.
add rollback
>shield
Stop outing yourself, smashfag. Go back to smelee.
I don't play pure zoners but anyone else love projectile vs projectile wars in MK? It's just simple and stupid fun.
>shield
Alright buddy, time to leave this thread.
And no, I know you weren't referring to Melty.
>MK
>simple and stupid
I don't know about fun, but this sounds about right.
I like fighting games, but I have never really delved deep into the mechanics of them. With this webm, is there a way the other guy could have gotten through that barrage? Also, what game is it?
Nah, the animations are too clean.
>Traditional zoning isn't zoning
>It's only zoning if there's like, a million projectiles on the screen stimulating my lizard brain!
Xrdlets are so low IQ it's embarrassing. They always talk about other games being simple and inferior, but every time I encountered a Xrdlet playing another fighting game, I had to teach them fundamentals.
>Playing a dead genre of vidya in 2020.
I bet you faggots are going to sit here and tell me how hype and big Strive is going to be just like you did when Xrd was announced and just like what happened with Xrd it's going to crash and burn upon relese.
>player can't deal with a shitty tactic despite every character having multiple anti-zoning tools
>it's the game's fault
I'd love to play SF5. The characters and animations looks great but the netcode is trash.
MK11 is the exact opposite
