I prefer to always go with normal. I enjoy a balanced experience, and I feel like if the game devs are good at what they do, this should always reflect challenging, but fair gameplay. If you need to put a handicap on yourself, the game isn't balanced right (looking at you, Skyrim).
If there are 3 difficulty levels
Easy-Normal-Hard
I always choose hard
If there are 4
Easy-Normal-Hard-Insane
I always choose the second hardest (hard)
Okay, that's great if you feel the need to knowingly gimp yourself. I just find that bad game design.
bg 1/2 were first d&d-based rpgs and I picked normal. I thought it as fine - it wasn't too easy for a beginner and most boss fights were reasonably hard
Normal difficulty is usually balanced around the most smooth brained shit players so its never fun. And higher difficulties can mean different things. In games like Catherine it can mean harder puzzles. In games like Metro it can mean both you and your enemies do more damage.
Depends on the game.
Dropped a "Very Hard" playthrough of P4G because the exp and money reduction was just stupid shit that existed to pad time artificially and Skyrim hard modes are just bullcrap.
What about situations like Halo where Normal exists, but they specifically say that Heroic (which is one above normal) is the intended difficulty? Sometimes higher difficulties are the 'normal' experience and normal is only called normal because of normies.
>hardest difficulty just pumps enemy stats and turns them into damage sponges
absolute dogshit game design
Halo is more fun on Normal than Heroic
Dont speak to me ever again
i wish games let you combine difficulties
i always wanted to play halo with legendary enemy spawns, reactions, AI and density but with normal damage and health
likewise i would want the additional stronger enemies from hard in pic related but also simply play on core rules or normal
I ALWAYS choose the intended difficulty. Why would I go against the game devs vision? If they made a good experience, I should have the most enjoyable one playing the game it was designed to be played. If it's a bad game, I'll have to tweak it to make it good, i.e. Skyrim (although no amount of mods will make it good).
Core with scs
I finished the game in Legacy of Bhaal difficulty but seriously, this is hot garbage shit. There is no fun in this kind of difficulty except if you are a masochist or enjoy exploiting the game in every possible way possible.
>Hit point rolls are maximized
The stupidest fucking thing any game based on DnD rules can do is not give a set number of hit points on level up. I understand why it can be fun on tabletop since characters can be relatively fluid and if you don't like your current character you can just talk to your DM and reroll a new one but that shit doesn't fly for CRPG's.
normal because i havent played this game type before
how do i get into isometric rpgs
If you choose anything less than core rules in baldurs gate you might as well not even play the game.
>likewise i would want the additional stronger enemies from hard in pic related but also simply play on core rules or normal
Question do you just make one party member or do I make all six?
How do I play evil character in Baldur's Gate?
Your choice
play good and murder a random innocent from time to time
This but its even worse when the game try to be difficult and can be pass in 30 min.speedrun.com
I choose Normal if I'm unfamiliar with the genre or style, Hard if I'm experienced (unless there's a difficulty between Normal and Hard, on which case I choose that instead). On this particular case, I'd choose Normal, as I never played D&D or anything related and have no fucking clue on how it even works.
Fixed.
i always tend to choose the very hard difficulty not the insane becuase most of the games insane difficulty are bullshit
only games that lack a vision have difficulty settings.
I've tried so many times to beat the game on Legend of Bhaal difficulty and I just can't do it. My EE on Steam sits at 128/129 achievements and will never reach completion.
Core rules, BG1 would fuck you
I won't be able to tell you where to get it since it's been a while but there is mod that lets you play the LoB difficulty but with the rules of insane. if you complete the game then, you get the achievement.
For me, it's Sword Coast Stratagems.
Mage starts with 4hp on bg1. Anything can kill you in any non 1 roll. Which happened to me with Xzar once
>Higher difficulties have enemies doing more damage and possessing more health
Revolting
Insane difficulty, but going to the options and disabling the increased damage received from the difficulty.
That way you get all the best creature spawns without getting one-shot.
>>I ALWAYS choose the intended difficulty
>chooses the difficulty that says enemies deal 25% less damage with a bunch of other buffs compared to standard rules
Is this your first D&D game?
Insane.
Legacy of Bhaal is the bullshit territory you want to dive in if you fully mastered the dynamics and mechanics of the game.
