Even if Square got to the average level of chumminess other third parties have in Smash, there's no timeline where they agree to dozens of their songs in the game. That shit is shut down tight.

I can see Tecmo Koei giving Sakurai everything he wants and then some if a character of theirs is in. Ideally alongside an IP all their own we'd also get some Hyrule/FE Warriors music/spirits as a bonus.

I'm pretty sure every other company other than Square Enix is more than welcome to give the Smash dev team entire access to the IP. I think a ton of love will be put into this challenger pass. It's just how the public will perceive the challenger choices, which will always be mixed because of the large/young playerbase and generally immature behavior.

Maybe if some indie game character is put in. Since Nintendo is opening with a shill rep I doubt it. I hope botw2 Zelda is fun to play at least

I hope so but probably not. The reason Terry pass had so much love was not only because SNK let Sakurai use whatever he wanted it was also because Sakurai genuinely adored the KoF games.
For something like this to happen again Sakurai needs to get a character he loves AND the company has to be chill.

Terry is clearly well beyond the usual amount for third parties though, especially by DLC standards.
