It's passable. It had some things mainline DmC could try. But it could have easily been better.

DmC's artstyle was fucking awful, the premise was shit. Combat in the demo was worse than DMC2 and incredibly bland. Monster design was shit.

Game series based around it's art, style and premise get's a spinoff that shits on it's core identity? Easy pass.

Glad it failed. If it's not going to be DMC, don't bother.

And sales proved this to be true. DMC5 has nothing in common with DmC, other than they made it to make up for the steaming pile of shit DmC was.

Itsuno is on the bandwagon as well. The game being close to DmC in some aspects is a direct middle finger to the faggots who were in charge of it. He did the opposite of what the geniuses over at ninja theory did. He listened to the fans (and the first step was, of course, going back to the original Dante), instead of insulting them.
Oh, and DMC5 is a much better game. There's that too.

It was very disconcerting how similar the DMC5 Vergil fight was to the DmC Vorgil fight.

The novels don't elaborate on Vergil very much (largely because he's not important) though they do all-but-state he's present in Dante's life as a character named Gilver, who wears his head wrapped in bandages, wields a katana and gets robbed after losing to Dante/Tony Redgrave in a drinking contest. The mangas for DMC3 do say he has a rampaging inferiority complex compared to Dante which is hinted at still being the case in DMC5 through Dante assuming that's his motivation

Absolutely, the DLC is all about Donte living rent free inside Vergin's head and ends up with him becoming the new demon king.

DmC's DLC goes into vergil's mind when he passes out and is about his inferiority to donte. In his head he thinks donte thinks that he's better than vergin, kat likes donte better, and their dead mother eva preferred dante. It somehow pisses him off so much that happens.

Listening to Subhuman in isolation doesn't do it justice. It's just not the same if you're not Quad S-ing while the chorus blasts at full volume.
