PS2 graphics for the GTA games are so good. Vice City on PC looked fucking horrible until I found out you can mod the PS2 effects back in.

All modern versions of San Andreas are ports of the Android port.
These comparisons are not as accurate because here I am using vehicle reflections taken from the Xbox ports of 3/VC and not from any version of San Andreas. It is simply a display of SkyGFX and PS2 map textures

The PC version with SkyGFX and PS2 map textures is 100% identical to the ps2 version. The exact same techniques in renderware are used.
The problem is that you (Zig Forums) don't understand why you running the game at 1080p or 4k looks different to the game through a 480i signal on PS2. Most footage you might see of the PS2 version is either

so the truth is basically none of you know what the PS2 game actually looks like and you just have this vague idea of what you remember playing 15 years ago that's been influenced by all the youtube footage and screenshots you've seen.
In short, none of you know shit about GTA despite it being a series literally everyone has played.
Left is an intentional artistic choice to emulate LAs constant smog haze, right is just devoid of artistic merit in pursuit of "muh resolution", something that PC fags fall for every time
The sad thing is I've seen threads made with a horrible modded brazillian screenshot of SA with all the textures swapped around, and every single one of you took that at face value to just be how SA looks.

Rockstar could have easily kept the console effects in along with the higher resolution. It all boils down to ineptitude and nothing to do with the PC.
They've never given much of a shit about PC, I think GTA:O was the eye-opener that they were fucking up. The PC market is about the same size as all consoles combined.
The pc back then weren't that powerful, and gta was selling like hotcakes on the ps2, so they really never cared to reconstruct the shader used on console for the pc.
