i feel like these dungeons would be more fun in the other games, or atleast just with a friend

Good idea on paper, horrible execution

The only truly horrible thing about them is the inability to properly go through them with friends without having to play through each level multiple times in each other's worlds.

There were exactly two too many chalice dungeons. The first one and lower hinterland could have been cut and replaced the crappier bosses in the other dungeons with theirs.

is Amygdala harder than found? im trying to do Hound right now, really not looking forward to amygdala if thats the case

just got hound to 1/6th of his health, im improving

They thought boring ass Souls combat could stand on its own.

>finish another fun ass pirate mission
>Ship fades into animus animation
>Stomach drops as you realise you have to do another FUCKING ABSTERGO SECTION

Not harder per-say but you have to fight her completely different to how you normally would. Really boring slow hit and run. Died a lot as i'm not good at being that patient

I mean when half of a bosses' moves now 1-shot you that typically forces you to fight it differently (why the fuck does the defense boost from cursed dungeons only apply to physical damage?)

>BB gets memed as the shortest Souls-like
>only because half of the bosses, traps, and enemies were shoved into bumfuck dungeons where most players will never find them

Would you have preferred more polished dungeons, or to have that work instead put into the main game?

>Would you have preferred more polished dungeons, or to have that work instead put into the main game?
I'd much rather it be in the main game. The Chalice dungeon's assets could've been reworked into a regulair area in the main game, along with the bosses and enemies. Maybe it could change with the moon phases, until the blood moon were it would resemble the Isz dungeons. Wasted potential.

The chalice dungeons are an interesting idea, and if done correctly they could have added near infinite replayability to the game, but as they are now I would have rather they spent that time and energy on the main game. There's no reason why Pthumeru, Loran, and Isz couldn't have been optional levels in the main world, maybe with a few more original assets so they aren't just pallet swaps.

They also should have rethought the bloodgem system. Customizing your weapon is great, but everyone just uses the highest damage gems they have so it all ends up being the same. No one is gonna choose +5 slow poison over an extra 10% damage.

I found the hound way more annoying, I enjoyed the amygdala fight however.

They were thinking that the game is too short for $60 and they might as well use the mountains of cut content for something.

Definitely hope Fromsoft never does anything like that again, I infinitely prefer handcrafted levels.

>No one is gonna choose +5 slow poison over an extra 10% damage.
Especially since a poison build is generally worthless in PVE. And since PVP only has like 3 or 4 viable builds it just makes it worthless…

As someone who loves doing status builds it pisses me off that FROM makes every boss immune to all ailments. Aside from Rapid Poison on Chikage there is no point to those gems, and even that's hugely situational. The only boss where poison is useful is Abhorrent Beast, and you're better off just tossing a single poison knife at him and using your weapon with 3 tempered/nourishing gems than gimping your weapon damage with shitty murky gems.

I died upwards of 60 times to the fucking hound. I remember howling at the screen when I finally put that retard down.

>take cover behind a tree as one of these starts spamming fireballs
>observe for a bit
>stands up
Gave me a slight chuckle as I had done multiple playthroughs and never saw them get on their feet before.

Best thing From has added to their games in recent years.
Too bad they left it behind.
Dark Souls 3 would have been a much better game with them.

All they would have to do to implement them perfectly would be to give fully fledged co-op/pvp in them.

They are part of the ""Main Game"".
They're just optional to complete the NG cycle

>They also should have rethought the bloodgem system

No
Just rebalanced it.
Make the Gems that aren't just +X% damage be much more powerful than they are.

Time to learn how the game properly instead of overleveling everything.

no, the absolutely horrible idea is to put a unique lore boss in the last dungeon of a gigantic labyrinth and force the player to farm low drop rate materials to be able to craft the fucking key to enter them

Eh rebalancing, rethinking, it needed some more thought. And I don't think number tweaking alone would solve the core issue: why would I use stamina usage down or slow poison over a straight up 30% damage boost, no matter how big the numbers on the other two gems are? 95% of bosses are immune to poison, and stamina usage is generous in bloodborne. No one is going to gimp their damage for that. Here's what I think:

No damage boosting gems at all. Shit like vs Beast and charged attack up are okay since they only effect certain criteria. Gems that change damage type (Fire, Arcane, Bolt) or increase scaling are okay as well. This would obviously mean enemy health values would need to be lowered, but it means that players can customize their weapons how they actually want without crippling their damage. Alternatively, just make it so you can't put more than one type of gem in a weapon. Only 1 tempering allowed. The rankings should probably be removed too, makes 90% of the gems you find useless.

>die to cursed chalice giant's chains when he does the spin for an hour
>get to cursed abhorrent beast
>end up 1 shotting it

They are fine for what they are, post game content to throw all the shit that didn't make it into the game. Better to have that to not have them, specially when a lot of people will have fun with them.

The chain giant is legit hardest boss in the game.

CD's should've been an account wide thing. Having to do them on alts is fucking exhausting especially on certain builds. Bloodtinge on Defiled Watchdog is tedious.

FRC roots are the hardest, most fun and overall best post-endgame that FROM games ever had. Story chalices are a bit lackluster, but the end result, in spite of possible better execution, is still extremely enjoyable.

I actually kinda liked these, since they were far more engaging than the typical Assassin's slog.

Torturing Snoyfags. No wonder they removed it in final version also known as Dark Souls 3. Snoys are beta testing games before even knowing it lmao.

Padding I guess, rather they'd used it for a dlc or something rather than an overly long dungeon crawl should've shortened it.

Unrelated but why is the camera, during fights, in Dark Souls 3 so fucking ass compared to Bloodbornes? Bloodbornes can be dodgy as shit obviously but DS3 has the camera spaz out the minute you get close to the enemy.

Except the fun stopped when someone good a good seed with the right boss on the first level with convenient layout. Then everybody just started farming those particular chalices and never generating and exploring their own.

filtered

true chads know how good chalice dungeons are.

The hound was the hardest fight in the game for me.

No dungeon at all. Alongside no blood gem system. Infusions are fine and base game has enough content in it without shitty dungeons.

heh... nothing personnel...
The REAL scariest enemy ever is

>Stress the shit out of me every time I see them
>Find them piss easy to parry
Fear is the mind killer

>not exploring for the sake of it with your friends
>he has never seen fire pit trap rooms
>bridges in isz and pthumeru
>descendant boss misnamed as elder
>the vore mole enemies
>crumped caskets
>3 HMPHs and a spider lady in a single garden area
>giant empty room with 3 Great One Coldbloods
>fire sickle undead giant from the early footage
Knowledge and wonders of the Labyrinth exceed any riches it can offer, user.

Nothing personnel kid...

what a fuckin tryhard fag

fuckin asshole has better AI than most of the bosses

Assuming you can see it coming.
They can aggro several roomes away while you're busy fighting some fucking firewitch and her 2 helldogs, come and 1shot you. Or hide in a dark area. Or behind a corner. Or make you think there is only one of them.

I hate their weird gaping mouths, erratic movements and screams. They don't even jumpscarre you at any point its just how they fucking move and look that unnerves me.

They were set up in such a way they were meant to be down parallel to the main game but hardly anyone did so they were a chore to complete. They weren't that bad really but it didn't feel like they fully fleshed them out and felt a bit tacked on.
