And XII is a piece of shit
The stat growth system is absolute dogshit.
Nah, it's pretty shit.
The only good thing about FF2 was that it lead to the SaGa series.

Shitty Soja Wars clone. Worst FF
Agreed.
I liked the PSP one.
Soja Wars?
>he played on mandatory easy mode
I like SaGa a lot so to me FF2 is a piece of history for the series, a lot of mechanics were full of design mistakes and the game is still very linear and bogged down by very bad design decisions like the revolving door of temporary party members, but I still think it's not that bad of a game given FF's record.
final fantasy two is the elder scrolls of the franchise
you level up skills individually and you choose dialogue options in conversation
it really is underrated seeing as how many people cite it as their least favorite

Honestly this. FF2 is definitely overhated. The sole fact that it was the first FF to have actual characters and a story alone should make it worth a try. I also hate how people cite its leveling system as the main problem meanwhile there's nothing wrong with such a mechanic.

Are you going to make a counter point or are you just going to quote my post with more of your selfies?
Absolute worth leveling/stat horseshit ever put into a game. On paper it sounds great. In action its fucking disgusting. Worst game ever made probably. Shit story, shit mechanics, ok music.
No value whatsoever.
How am I supposed to present a counterpoint to "X is dogshit" when that's just a baseless claim?
I feel like Jared was way to harsh on the game in his review of it. If he was sich a big fan of the series, he would appreciate all the things FFII introduced and how innovative it was for its time. It is obvious that 80% of people that dislike FFII does so because their favorite youtuber does.
So you're saying you can't defend it. Gotcha.
>On paper it sounds great. In action its fucking disgusting.
Ever played a fucking SaGa game? Just because FF2 did a garbage job at implementing it doesn't mean it can't work, retard.
If you actually believe this, you’re a fucking retard. Most likely underage as well. Fuck off faggot
Okay, here's your counterpoint: The stat growth system is not absolute dogshit.
>defend an objection to an unproven claim
The burden of proof rests with you, nigger.
You can cheese every single boss thiugh
>leave one monster alive
>hit your own guys to level defense
I loved it
Only played the Gameboy one though, sorry
Damn, look at all these faggots who got filtered by this game. This game should be appreciated and praised for being so innovative and game-changing. Anyone saying it sucks are clearly braindead. One of the most important jrpgs of all time.
Jared's "reviews" are really weird. Most recent example would be his FF7R review, where he presented a fuck-ton of flaws, and you legitimately thought he hated the game, just to give it a 9/10 in the end. He might as well just drop the number system at that point.
I completely agree. His videos are very enjoyable but he’s not really a good reviewer.
Food analogy + shit analogy = B A S E D
Cringe
Nah. #Owned #BASED
I said it, that's all the proof you should need, pic related, checkmate
You don't need to hit your party members for hours to beat the game retards
Why do they do that Family Guy leg thing when they die?
FF2's main mistakes on stat growth were having HP growth work based purely on damage received and having both variable stats and a weapon proficiency system which causes a balance overload and makes the game far too easy to break the moment you understand how to abuse growth mechanics, both problems were immediately fixed with the first SaGa game too so it's hard to get stuck up about them, especially when you consider how it was Kawazu's first original game that wasn't a D&D homebrew.
The only other complaint I have personally is that spell growth is far too slow but at the same time the system is so unbalanced you realistically do not need any buff beyond level 3, which is trivially easy to get, not to mention Cure levels up whenever and not just in battle like the rest, and spellbooks let you cast several lvl5 spells for free too so it's not like you ever realistically need to grind for buffs in the first place.
The other problems are typical balance problems you can find in even worse forms in other entries, or just about in any RPG in general, so it's hard to criticize FF2 for things like fighters being OP when it's a common problem in general.
If FF2 is such a terrible game for having some typical oversights according to people, I do not want to imagine what kind of criticism applies to most other FF when there's both less freedom in terms of character building and several mechanics and design choices that are deliberately designed to cannibalize each other.
Make no mistake, FF2 has several massive problems gameplay wise, as much as people still pretend literal memes such as hitting yourself are thing, but the typical double standards of the western FF community don't really help the already weak arguments made against the game.
Where did you get a pic of me and my book?
Amano’s art for the game is fucking beautiful. Greatest artist in gaming
