Tau's are like the naive early humans (or the isolated interex) that thought we could all just hold hands in the galaxy and sing along and be happy together in peace, until that bubble obviously exploted in their faces and realized how cruel and unforgiving the galaxy really is, how the xenos you make alliance with are just waiting to stab you in the back at the slightest sign of weakness
we can only rely on ourselves, do you know whats going to happen when the Tau get to a low point and its allies see them weak? they would no longer need them, and they would take the chance to expand their own borders, cause species are like that in the end, we only care about our own kind
how can someone believe we could all coexist in good terms in this galaxy when chaos exists? when the nids exist, the orks, necron, and some other weirder menaces that still hide in some places?
the Tau is just too young still, and too naive for that matter, but they will learn some day, if they manage to keep existing that long, they will learn the true face of the galaxy, and realize that their so called greater good is but a dream, a farce that cant be made

the eldars are always up to something, and they sometimes can be useful on some things, but as i said, in the end, we can only really rely on ourselves, and when the time comes, we will just ditch these eldars before they do it with us
