I'm guessing most people will tell you you're a pussy or that there's scarier games out there (which there are). Ignore them.
Don't worry user. It's really ok to be scared especially if you're not used to horror games.
Honestly what makes RE games not as scary for me is the fact that once you push through the first couple of hours, you'll see that there's actually not a lot of enemies on the map and they're really easy to avoid. Don't be afraid to open up your map constantly, figure out the route you wanna take, and focus more on keeping your resources. Once you become more invested in the mechanics of the game, it's easier to ignore the horror elements and treat it as an adventure/puzzle solving game with spooky elements thrown in.
Also, the story is fucking goofy and it ramps up the action and intensity the further you go. It becomes less about running from zombies on dark corridors and more about fighting giant monsters with bombastic music in the background. And the characters are actually really fun and memorable.
RE2make is a perfect place to get into RE games, it's a fantastic game, hope you can eventually get into it.

Thanks for the civil response, it's very rare on here. I've actually completed the game, albeit with great difficulty. I admit I'm a total coward when it comes to horror games, especially ones with realistic textures and graphics. Thankfully, I managed to get through RE2 and I'm hoping to check out some other titles in the series.

You might want to check RE3make if you want to continue the story. It's nowhere near as good as RE2 but it's not as bad as everyone says, it's also much faster paced and more reliant on action.
REmake (2002) is probably the best of the classic style games but it's also the scariest game in the series in my opinion. Procede with caution.
RE4 is not only the best game in the series but one of the greatest games of all time. It throws most of the horror out the window and it's more of a spooky-themed third person shooter, but it's the pinnacle of the sixth generation consoles when it comes to pure, unadulterated fun. I play it once every couple of months and it remains as entertaining as it was when i was 12.
