Mirror's Edge

2008 + 12
This game still looks so good and plays so fluidly, it has no visual clutter and has a rock solid art direction.

Is Zig Forums patrician enough to appreciate this kino?

Heard about it but won't play because main character is woman. You have fun though

Last time I tried to play this I had an issue where the game stuttered when I pressed any button on the mouse. It's one of the weirdest things I ever saw. How is Catalyst?

Catalyst is okay for a play thru but the original ME is a timeless classic.
I’ve just built a PC, console gamer for the last decade, and I’ve just been playing in 4K. Apart from the faces, which barely appear in the game, and a couple of objects where you can see the polygons, the game still looks good. I don’t mean good for how old it is, I mean good. And since the genre hasn’t really progressed since 2008, the gameplay has barely aged either.

Well if you weren't a rank newfag, you'd know that yes, Zig Forums does appreciate Mirror's Edge.

Someone post screenshots of this game.

I'll get to my PC in a bit to post what I have.

who doesn't enjoy this game?
it's great, shame about the sequel

Hard to believe this game was made by DICE and published by EA and somehow managed to be alright.

secretly hoping for a VR spinoff series.

I enjoyed this game to the point of speed running this game. Also at the time when Crysis was a still a thing them implementing "PhysX" in Mirror's edge was cool a shit imo.

This is genuinely one of the best games of all time, it's such a focused and polished game, it's a damn shame that they made all the terrible decisions with the sequel, all we needed was a extra expansive version of the first game but instead we got mirrors edge ubisoft edition.

Also the most chill soundtrack in existence. I always associate this ambient music to the 2000's now.

>game is good because it has zoomer sensibilities

ok?

>t.zoomer who doesn't even know what this game is

This was one of the first games I played when moving to PC gaming. I downsampled it from 1440p in 2012 and it hooked me into PC for multiplatform titles. Now I am PC exclusive and Catalyst has brought me back those memories.
I'll do too.

The new game has a more future look while the original looks like a mix between a Japanese and American Modernist architecture city.

At least they kept the pidgeons.

Boring ass game. you just run, jump and slide around. Might as well play a super mario game, at least those are fun.

I've NEVER seen a positive opinion of the 2nd game, and when people complain about it, they never even bring up anything relevant to the game, they just repost a shoop of hte cover that made faith look like a nigger

Enlightenment is Mirrors Edge, but godhood is TitanFall 2.

Come join the pantheon of based gamers.

This game has actually gotten me into 3D modeling. Working my way through some tutorials and I'm hoping to make some environments or something, even just for a pic or two

>arbitrary skill tree
>no-skill go fast button
>combat focus
>dogshit ai in spite of that
>downgraded level design to cater to the open world meme
>grappling hook

(You)

I hated mirrors edge because all the platforming is contextual
montezumas return is actual first person 3d platforming kino

>>downgraded level design to cater to the open world meme
Fucking THANK YOU

Everything felt so samey and the open world just blurred together because all i was doing was going to waypoints. The missions were slightly better but they always ended right when I was getting interested in them. I really missed the linearity and mission/chapter structure of the first game. I'm not much of an open world person at all though

Yeah it's good.
Can't be fucked to play Catalyst, apparently the combat is even worse.

It's fun knocking cops off of rooftops, especially because all you have to do is nudge them slightly and they basically throw themselves off full-force, but that gets old.

STILL ALIVEEEEEEEEEEEE

>not wanting to be a woman
you're loss

I even like the mobile version, the game is simple, has a simple premise, simple execution, looks beautiful, does what it sets out to do and nothing more.

You can't ask for a better game

Did Catalyst get memoryhole'd for anyone else? I don't remember a sequel existing

Because it was a shit game that no one bought. Instead of leaning into what made the game good, they toned it down and tried to "fix" the parts no one gave a shit about.

What little I played I liked, but I get motion sick really easy so I wasn't able to play for longer than 5-10 minutes at a time.
