accept that some positions are fundamentally less fun than others and that support roles will literally always be less fun than active roles, and as such, stop requiring them.

Killing Floor and Killing Floor 2 do this. Every Perk has a Medical Syringe that is rechargeable and heals for a small amount. You actually get rewarded for healing your teammates in the form of a small bit of currency each time you help them. You're nowhere near as capable as a Medic nor can your Syringe recharge as fast, but everyone can still pitch in to look out for each other.

There's no need for a dedicated healing class to exist.
Moreover, there's no need for a dedicated tank either. The "tank" duties should be handled by forcing players to strategically rotate who is eating the most damage from something, shirking the aggro off to another player before they are killed so that they can recover and focus on dishing out more damage while the next "tank" takes on the responsibility for a bit. To prevent players from just going back and forth between 2 people doing this, there would either need to be an incentive to rotate between the whole party, or a penalty for not doing so.

This is all too big-brain for modern gamers however.

I see no fundamental difference to support roles using a rotation to keep buffs up than DPS roles using a rotation to keep DoTs up.

The problem, IMO, is that when you play Healer/Tank/Support roles, you have a terrible time completing any quests content on the overworld just because you lack any and all damage.

GW2 tried to address this by making every class a self-sustaining DPS/support hybrid that dealt good damage, had a good way to self-heal or mitigate damage by dodging, and each profession had unique ways to support the party with boons/fields/finisher/combos, etc. However, the result is that every class is the fucking same, and the only differentiating factor between any 2 people is a DPS number they can achieve through a retardedly convoluted rotation, especially given that Elementalist profession has been top DPS in GW2 for a while, but has you fucking bar-swapping between effectively 4 different weapons (your elements, really), dynamically.

There isn't really a good solution besides abandoning the MMO part and making it a dungeon-crawler Online RPG only, where you're always queued into your specific role for that dungeon, and tanks/healers aren't saddled with having to damage shit in the open world sections of the game (that were cut out to just make it a dungeon-only format)

Healer role is already fine. If you don't like it, don't play it. Don't try to fix something that isn't broken, since some of us do like playing healer. Not me, I prefer tank in the trinity, but I'd still play healer before dps.

make more damage based healers. Discipline priests from WoW were fantastic. Your damage mitigation is boosted by damaging enemies. You also got mobility boosts, the ability to CC, etc. So much more fun than the brain dead garbage holy priests that just stands and casts.

Remove it. Make everyone able to heal in some form. Add a Slut class instead that can do nothing but suck cock and moan in different pitches.

Do what an old mmo i played did: Damage dealers hurt themselves when doing maximal damage (by having attacks that damage them) so healers have to heal not to keep people from dying but to keep everyone able to continue outputting maximum damage and so the healers healing output becomes a competitive thing that ultimately translates into faster killing.

In such a system defensive, reactive, healing mechanics are not even required so instead of the pressure of keeping people alive you just get to spam heals everywhere to increase damage and it allows for a more exciting combat.

Have a generalized Support class that only heals when healing is needed and provides other support functions when healing isn't necessary.

Transformers War for Cybertron nailed it with their Scientist class. First, their Energon Ray primary weapon healed teammates at a decent rate but ALSO harmed enemies at a relatively low but still notable DPS; they also had access to Energon grenades that created a healing AoE and healing turrets. When not healing though, they had a decent secondary weapon for actually focusing on damage, EMP grenades, Leech grenades, regular & rocket turrets, the ability to disguise as the other team, and had a jet as their vehicle mode for the sake of recon, surveying, quick escapes, and quickly reaching teammates in need of backup or healing.

Even basic store-brand coffee is pretty good with the right stuff in it. Been having coffee with blue agave for sweetness and a little milk to cool/smooth it before I drink and it's nice.

Most tanks and healer can still deal damage in a pitch. Just not to the same extent as the DSP.

This. Fistweaving Monks in WoW when they first came out and Grace Warrior Priests in WAR were actually fun healers. Too bad Blizzard hates fun and killed fistweaving, though.
