Cerny apparently used to play DnD with his brothers as a kid. I get the feeling he was dungeon master a lot, and I'm guessing because of it, he developed that narrator voice. He's a very good speaker.

He was a retard for having a knee jerk reaction to the entire thing instead of being intelligent for once and waiting to see the thing instead of buying into the marketing. We know Sony has a history of exaggerating their consoles' capabilities in one way or another, so they need to show proof. The independent testing has already established the conventional wisdom for over a decade about SSDs having diminishing returns even after upgrading to NVMe. The proof of buirden is on Sony to show that they were able to overcome this in a game because what we have now to discern this in the public is not enough to prove this point.

He is a really good speaker. No uh and um, just straight smooth delivery. That being said, I would really like to know what he was thinking with the design this time because he did a lot of defensive type reasoning with the design I felt more than one speaking in a technical manner at GDC or elsewhere should be doing.

Run on sentence, sorry. I'm basically just saying Mark is being more defensive about the design of the console than your average tech speaker. Normally, you would present empirical facts about your design and why it beats out other ones but there was a lot of hand wraggling here where we were supposed to take Mark at his word. Not saying that it's wrong or even necessarily bad given what constraints exists on information he could share but it was just off. It was definitely inferior to what Xbox did where they showed the Series X system before Mark had his talk.

this framing compeltly ignores the fact that linus is correcting himself for reacting to something sweeny never said. That thing he never said being "the ps5s ssd is faster than anything on the pc market"
infact what sweeny said was that the ps5's SSD is best in class. best in class meaning in consoles. the fact is(and the video you linked said this) that faster SSDs still exist in pc thanks to NVMe.
this video was correcting something he said in a live podcast and was said off the cuff. linus' original statement was true it was just a reaction to a misquoting of tim sweeny. and frankly its not even one he really had to make as no one watches WAN show compared to his other videos but i get why he did it
