Smash4 because I like doing epic down throw up air combos
At least is better than Ult's "take turns throwing your one safe aerial and if you can do a drag down combo before going back to neutral and doing it again 5 more times".
Ultimate mario can pretty much kill from a stray up throw/falling up air if the stage has platforms. There's still cancer, its just less consistent
For me, it's Melee.

Some characters still have dumb throw followups but it's not nearly as universal as Smash4.
Smash4's stupid-ass jank was entertaining at least, specially when people defended it.

I don't even like 4 that much, I just like how janky it is and the art-direction, seriously Ultimate looks awful compared to 4.

brawl has the most tech besides melee. brawl and melee together were the most skill oriented. everything after them was nintendo dumbingthe franchise down for normies to feel good about themselves.

It's Ultimate because I don't enjoy fighting Fox, though swordies are gatekeeping cancer in both games.
I have absolutely no idea how anybody could like a game where ICs are top-tier. I guess MK was fun even if he broke the entire meta.

ICs killed brawl
Modern devs overdoing it with patches kills MP games stone dead more often than not. I will take the minor patches of Ultimate over constant meta shifting clown shows like Overwatch

Brawl was fun, and the idea of expanding on the existing concept was there. However they did slip up in a few places. However, this game is a perfect goodbye for the series.

brawl was not good even without the ICS. Even ignoring mk olimar, diddy, snake, and falco all brought their own different forms of cancer though falco. Marth is the closest thing to a respectable top tier in brawl and that's only if he didn't have grab release bs against your character
