Hey bro let's make a real time game entirely based on a system made for turns

>hey bro let's make a real time game entirely based on a system made for turns
What a shitshow the combat is in these games, did they ever had a game of DnD? at least Lariam studios will fix it now

Just toggle the automatic pause every round and pause between each click if you're so much of a brainlet that you can't even figure out how to play the game without a 5 minute pause between each action.

They were designing an RTS at first.
RTWP has little to do with D&D but actually allows for some interesting interactions which are not possible in turn-based. Neither TB nor RTWP are inherently better despite Codex fanatics telling otherwise, it all comes down to encounter design. BG2 had stellar encounter design while many TB games are an absolute shitshow with trash unimaginative encounters.

I believe the most common concern about Larian's BG3 nowadays is that it will be too similar to D:OS.
There is also PF:Kingmaker and plenty of other proper D&D games like KotC 1(and soon 2), ToEE, even Incursion.

That means the game totally failed at being either turn based or action

Or that it succeeds at both. Pause for hard fights when you need to think, don't pause for easy generic encounter like bandits, goblins etc.

People who complain about RTWP are genuinely retarded.

You could pause it. Lmao

>it works when you don't have to think!
>if you don't like this flawed combat system you're dumb

>e too similar to D:OS
Not a bad thing since those have a wonderful combat system

What's the problem faggot, your brain can't catch up to the speed of real time calculations? Fucktards like you first made the whole genre require full voice acting because you are so devout of imagination and incapable of reading. Now you want the whole genre to consist of turn based combat so you can feel good when you spend 25 minutes to kill some trash mobs? Fuck off.

It's fine. Temple of Elemental Evil is turn based and is slow and boring as fuck. Let's wait 15 minutes for each bandit to do their 1 stupid attack every turn

I just told you it worked in all situations. Stop forcing me to call you a retard, retard.

>NOOO You must be dumb if you don't like the shitty pause every 2 seconds might as well be turn based combat system
Literally what all Baldur Babbies say when they shit gets called out

>real time calculations
lol just buff, everyone overestimates how difficult BG actually is

kill yourself

coping hard

Tabletop is based on turns because it would be a shit show for a human to do the calculations in real time.

Guess what, computers can do that easily. It's almost like they took advantage of the technology of the platform they were making the game for.

How can someone be this bad at videogames?

Seethe
No, because it would be a shit show to have all the players and dungeon masters acting at the same type, just like how RTWP is a shitshow
>y-you re just bad!
Nice strawman

Does KOTOR count as RTWP? That's the only game with that system I've felt was tolerable. Baldur's Gate feels horrible to play.

Alright so don't play it and fuck off

Dragon age origins felt okay too actually

Probably because kotor is so easy the game can literally play itself. I''s probably adapted to your needs.

It’s the same thing. In fact I prefer BG because queueing actions in kotor is weird.

sorry my dick doesn't get hard that I'm really good at an isometric dungeons and dragons game from the 90s

the combat in those games is fine. You're just a fag.

>Dragon age origins felt okay too actually
DAO's animations felt like the characters were wading through mud.

>DAO's animations felt like the characters were wading through mud

yeah but the combat felt passable

I think my issue with baldur's gate is that it moves so quickly and is so punishing that you basically have to spam pause whereas KOTOR and dragon age are slow enough you can manage the combat in real time comfortably and without being a grognard pro

The problem is more that you seem unable to handle it. I was 13 when I finished it, that goes to say it's really not hard or complicated. People who need turn by turn system for every character in every encounter are genuinely way below average at video games.

I never played Baldur's Gate but I did play Ice Wind Dale with a friend, I was pretty disappointed with it, all I wanted was to explore the overworld but the game lock us in the starting area keep throwing us enemies we would just beat instantly without much thought, I can't really enjoy battles if it just seems I won by luck or because my characters were just much stronger, that's why I also hate how mobile games handle battles, there isn't much gameplay.

Thank you for reminding me that this exists so I can laugh at Beamniggers suffering again.

Understandable if you're not familiar with D&D system and just started the game but that's why there's a bunch of settings to make the game automatically pause when you get hit or kill something or when the round ends etc.

NWN 1&2 are also a bit slower

Icewind Dale isn't as good as BG. Also BG2 is orders of magnitude better than BG1.

>Bro, let me shit on this classic. Look at how outdated this 25 year old game is. Based Larian btfoing boomers. Did I mention real time with pause is garbage yet?

why hasn't anyone made a turn based mod for this game yet? If it had xcom or FFT combat it would be the god tier RPG

>everyone stupid but me, I'm so superior for not noticing how shit the combat is
or maybe BG's combat sucks?
Probably because isn't eye bleeding isometric shit

>Based Larian btfoing boomers
Yep, I'm thinking they are based

I've beaten BG 1 and 2 and planet escape tournament, I just don't like how they play

>planet escape tournament

>strawman in every post to cope

The BG games are fantastic at teaching you to avoid combat in D&D and to only engage when you've fully stacked the odds in your favor. Now if only you could talk some things out too, instead of having a few lines of pre-fight dialogue that all lead to pain and misery.

>get called out
>s-strawman
keep crying
