is there a better horror game than this
Is there a better horror game than this
any game that doesn't get rewritten to be an incomprehensible mess of teen angst
nobody actually gives a fuck about the story thought
whats is this
pretty sure it's Cry of Fear. It's free on steam.
it's craig
It has good spooks and all but oh my fucking God, the backtracking is literal PAIN.
Frictional Games are better but CoF forever in my heart.
he looks like a nice guy
This kind of monster design was scary 10 years ago but I can't help but just laugh at it now.
It always seemed to me that there were too many guns for the amount of space you had. I would always find ammo for the VP70 or the M16 like 20 minutes after I decided to leave them behind to carry the puzzle items. The only gun you regularly get ammo for is the glock.
Cry of Fear was more frustrating than scary
He's an asshole, shoot him in the face when you get the chance.
Actually me do, look like your argument just get blown fuck out
>Craig
Oh god not, not Craig!
>passable weapon model
>god awful character model
>terrible environment
IM HORROR RIIIIIIICK
Cry of Fear is always amazing to me because of what they managed to squeeze out of GoldSrc
>that 4 player online co-op campaign that never worked
Did they ever fix that shit? I wanted to go through it with the boys but none of us could get it to connect properly.
My lads and I went through it, all the way to the end.
That's kind of how I felt too. My favorite game from the guy is actually the original version of Afraid of Monsters. The Director's Cut of AoM made the levels more annoying to navigate trying to add more secrets for the "real" ending, but it just made it feel like you were looping around too much and getting randomly cut off from finding them if you accidentally took the path to progress. Only thing AoM:DC did better was the enemy models since the original version uses reshaded HL1 enemies more. But it felt like everything after AoM started to become a bit convoluted in design which increased frustration.
Yeah, silent hill 1-3, the games CoF desperately plagiarizes. It's extremely impressive for a mod but its overrated as shit by zoomers who never played the games its (poorly) ripping off.
Question: Would you play a horror game set in the wild west? You play as a badass outlaw after a botched robbery. Then literal demons happen. Now you have to fight off cops, but also have to run and hide from things that can't even be hurt.
Isn't this the plot for Hard West?
That game was decent.
i will never fucking forgive andreas for cancelling the HD remake of AoM on the CoF engine or the proper multiplayer for AoM
Yes but not sure a badass outlaw would make for a good protagonist in a horror game. It would just become Killing Floor.
Play as a prostitute or barmaid or something instead. Somebody who's never (or rarely ever) touched a gun in their life.
The wild west setting could be good for survival horror.
Being in first person let Afraid of Monsters add in some platforming which I thought made it different enough to not just feel like a ripoff. Don't remember if Cry of Fear had as much platforming though.
You can make it about a settler first fighting bandits, then injuns, then skinwalkers. And then you travel to the edge of the world in order to tell the biggest skinwalker to fuck off.
>rip off Silent Hill 2
>add tons of jumpscares
>everyone praises it like a master piece
I want to like CoF but the heavier emphasis on story/Simon being an edgelord really takes me out of it. The game was also overall more jump-scary and ridiculous in some parts as opposed to AoM, but both games royally blew their load with the first area. CoF, at the very least, had more memorable moments (like the flare tunnels) and a good reset point (the forest), but its enemy roster felt weaker/more like a 15 year old's notebook drawings rather than the inherently fucked up/fear inducing Twitchers with their "off" movement. While combat felt better than AoM (due to combat having a much bigger emphasis on ammo conservation and avoiding damage, where as AoM was very much a Half-Life mod difficulty wise), it still felt odd. Bullet counting felt easier than AoM did. That aside, CoF had some pretty good/interesting ideas, but somehow fails to be more enjoyable than AoM, to me at least.
COME UP, OVER HERE
>noone cares about the story of a horror title
back to slender the 8 pages with you
learn2 port forward
I don't know if it's true or not but I heard the dev of CoF put in more jumpscares for YouTuber bait. Maybe people liked seeing it for that but it actually started to get annoying if you were the one playing.
These shits made me start to hate the game. The first time it made me jump, and I didn't mind. But then the second one, and third one, I didn't jump and just felt irritated with the game.
