Dark Messiah is great, but if you take away the kicking and magic interaction, the actual melee combat is pretty shallow. It's still way more fun than shit like Skyrim, but that also doesn't mean much. Third person will always be better than first person for melee games, just like first person is better than third person for shooters. Try to actually think about why Skyrims combat is so bad, then try to fix it and you'll realize that for every problem you fix, another one pops up, because first person is shit.

not really, the problems with skyrims combat are pretty blatantly obvious. There's no weight or physics behind anything, you just swing your sword in front of the guy and his health is subtracted. Pretty fucking shitty to have a "melee" game where it doesn't even feel like there's collisions with your weapons

Yes I have, I have modded it beyond what any sane person would do. Massive gameplay changes and absolute degeneracy. I tried to mod it to become my personal fuck ARPG sandbox with actual gameplay and content inbetween too and it was fucking garbage, because 99% of the coomer mods out there are overly complex, half-buggy, un-immersive sandbox expansions instead of proper quests, writing and NPC interaction.
Changing a mod around? Better restart your playthrough.
Restart your playthrough? You now have to set the settings back as you like again, including the tedius waiting and setup shit, the pre-requisites, 50 million popups from different mods wanting you to install them ingame.

It's singlehandedly the best and the worst modding experience.
