Ah, yes, the GTX 970. The eternal GPU. Bet this thing will still be able to run PS5/Sexbox ports in 1080p/60 fps with decent settings.

What games does it got?

11 niggerflops= ps5
4 niggerflops= gtx 970
You'll need 2 of these to match 30 fps on pc.

>new gen is coming
>we will see a similar graphical leap as from ps3 to ps4
cant wait bros

>$350 gpu from 2016 is still usable in 2020
feels good

For me, it's the 980ti. Though I'll probably upgrade it later this year

If you think that it actually works like that you're legit stupid.

I got a ref 980, even OC'd a bit, still pulls well @ 1080p to this day

Modern games actually mostly suck ass but I'm upgrading next gen only because I want an ultrawide or maybe 240hz, can't decide, maybe both in the long run

that's still a pretty decent card and is not because it's particularly powerful but because GPU's just like CPU's have not progressed much in the past few years. PC hardware have stagnated hard probably due to the lack of competition. Intel made the best CPUs for the longest time and so did Nvidia with their GPUs... Because there was no competition they have been repackaging their old shit under a new name and selling it again. In the case of Nvidia they were selling old shit with a gimmick that tanks performance in the form of RTX.

Same but a 470

poorfag cope thread

I had one of these and I'm assuming what you meant by "decent settings" is medium low and "60fps" means constant dips below 60fps. It was a good card 5 years ago but severely outdated because of the 3.5 meme.

>yeah I still use my 4770k from 2013 paired with a 1070

It won't. It's barely as fast as a PS4 pro and has 3.5GB of usable VRAM.

It's enough when you're not wasting the processing power in 4Kmeme.

This gen was so shit. At least for western AAA games I have no hope.

>3.5

>been slowly upgrading my PC that i've had since 2012
>bought a mini 1660s because my cables look like spaghetti and i need the space
>no DVI port on it so i walk for an hour to the only store that's open to buy a displayport to DVI adapter
>get back and set that up
>go to plug PSU into GPU
>PSU only has 6 pin connectors and the 1660s uses an 8 pin connector
>take it all out and put my old graphics card in
>need to wait until another adapter comes tomorrow
i'm retarded

4690k 970 /frugal/ chad here, several of my friends have spent over $1000 to upgrade their pcs recently only to end up playing the same games they were already getting perfectly fine performance in. There are a few demanding games they ran for less than an hour to look at the shiny graphics but then went back to fucking Hearthstone. The only thing I could justify upgrading for is switching to 144hz, I played Apex at a friend's house and the difference was unreal. But even with his beefy rig and settings dialed way down it would often dip to 110-130. I can get a rock solid 60 at high settings with my setup so it really doesn't seem worth it

Now that I have actual good credit prebuilts are a lot more appealing. Even if I’m paying a hundred or two more I’m able to spread out the payments over years with no interest.

Yo can also just finance the expensive components. That's what I do. GPU will probably be on credit, not sure yet.

couldn't play modded Skyrim in 1080p on that POS

>people so poor they finance pc parts
jesus christ that's almost to the point of getting a popsicle on layaway

who i7-4790k gtx980 here?

Attached: comfy.jpg (409x409, 44.04K)

I recently upgraded from one of those bad boys to an RX 5700 XT, and although I have seen a huge performance increase (actually making use of my 4K and 144Hz monitors properly now), it will never cease to amaze me how viable it was so many years later. It reminds me of my old i7 2600k for how good it was (is).

4690K GTX1060 in my secondary PC, and 9900K 5.1GHz on all cores with 2080Ti on this PC.

I keep looking for a 4790K or a 5775C to upgrade the secondary PC but no luck yet.

2600k, 980, Win 7
Still don't plan to upgrade unless there's a major leap forward.

Try and run RDR2 (a CURRENT GEN game) at ""decent"" settings with a GTX 970 and post some results. We'll wait.

My new PC cost like 3k€. If I can get a zero interest loan on some parts, I do that and pay the rest off later. I like to have some money for bad situations and have zero other debts. Car is payed, house is payed. If you are old enough, you will know why putting out too much money at a time is sometimes dumber than financing. I really hate credit btw.

it was literally btfo'd by the r9 290 with driver updates alone

kek

The problem is this game does things that butcher performance on Pascal and older cards because it uses hardware registers only present on Turing, all because Nvidia paid them to kill performance on older cards so people stop ignoring the RTX joke series. Same shit as when DOOM 2016 came out and it used registers only present on Maxwell to kill off Kepler (no excuse for a 970 to be faster than a 780 Ti.) Same shit here.

Always nice to see a 980 chad, especially if you use a CRT with your VGA port.
I'm a Sony fag too but it doesn't mean I can't appreciate the versatility of PC.

>Decent settings
So everything at lower than lowest at 20FPS to mimic the consoles.

>want to upgrade gpu
>have to upgrade cpu because bottleneck
>have to upgrade mobo because cpu
>have to upgrade ram because mobo
>have to upgrade psu because all the above
PC gaming...

Good luck with your 3.5gb vram

>want to play new game
>have to buy new console
Console gaming...

>want to upgrade gpu
>can't upgrade gpu because console
>have to wait 10 years for faster hardware
>10 years later, hope for better performance
>they too have bad hardware with games running at 30FPS
>have to wait another 10 years and hope for better performance
>10 years later, hope for better performance
>they too have bad hardware with games running at 30FPS
>have to wait another 10 years and hope for better performance
>10 years later, hope for better performance
>they too have bad hardware with games running at 30FPS
>have to wait another 10 years and hope for better performance
>10 years later, hope for better performance
>they too have bad hardware with games running at 30FPS

Console gaming...

>3.5gb of vram

It might be able to if you're standing still, but it will stutter like shit when moving because of running out of VRAM. 4GB isn't nearly enough even in current games. I'm think I'm going to be upgrading mine when the new series comes out. I think it's finally time.

Thats cause the CPU was trash this gen. A very small improvement over the 2005 consoles. We are basically playing nothing but pretty last gen games.
Next gen we have a ryzen 8c16t as minimum

>tfw got a sli rig with 2 970s
>jumped ship and refunded them when the 3.5gb meme came up
>got a 1080ti later and never looked back
phew
