Are those games just really slow RTS?

Medieval 2. Shogun 2. Warhammer. Depends on which one of those you prefer. The others are shit btw. Especially Rome 2. Yes even post-patch. Apologetics should hang.

Rome 2.

What about Three Kingdoms and Warhammer II?

No, they are not RTS.

Why Rome II, I heard it's bad?

The big 3 2's
Medieval 2, Shogun 2, Warhammer 2

It's fun. It is my most played total war game. I like playing as hellenic factions. I like the classical era. People bitch about Rome 2, but it's good if you give it a chance.

it's awful avoid it at all cost.

FotS for sure

Three kingdoms is okay but nothing more. And when people talk about warhammer they usually are talking about WH 2 because WH 1 is now more of a DLC for WH 2

>Three kingdoms is okay but nothing more
It's shogun 2 but better.

Three Kingdoms seem to have better politics than most of the games in the series and about as much unit diversity as Shogun 2 though, how come people prefer Shogun 2?

SHOGUN 2
SHOGUN 2
SHOGUN 2

TWWH is fun, here's the list for historical; first 2 ms.dos tier games excluded:
>shogun 2
>rome 1
>medieval 2
>empire and napoleon
because they have awesome naval battles
>attila
>rome 2

fuck 3 chinks

Three Kingdoms had a lot bugged shit and broken balancing at launch. No idea how much of it has been fixed by now but I think they released a bunch of major updates which should've addressed it.

I did really like the campaign and diplomacy though. Might be worth giving it a go again, I think it is kind of underrated.

Warhammer 2 or Shogun 2

I have a hard time going back to Shogun 2 after Warhammer 2, though. The animations and large units and diversity of it all makes it so fun to replay. It feels like they actually put some effort in. Siege battles kinda suck, though. Just walk 1 large units up to door, wait a bit, then select all + right click capture point.

Three Kingdoms is the best overall and anyone that says otherwise is a deluded poltard. WH 2 has the best fights but everything else sucks.

Warhammer 2

Everything else is just inferior.

Entirely depends on which time-period you're the most interested in. Every single one of their games is worth playing. Warhammer 2 is arguably the most "definitive" due to the vast variety in units and faction diversity and the fact it's fantasy.

Essentially choose from:
>Warhammer 2
>Rome 2 + Attila for Roman
>Shogun 2 for Japan
>Empire + Napoleon for gunpower and line infantry
>Three Kingdoms for China
>Medieval 2 for Medieval as well as amazing conversion mods

I find that a lot of people bounce off trying to get into Rome 1 nowadays if they are new to the series. Arguably it's superior to Rome 2 in some respects so it depends on how zoomer you are.

Warhammer 2 and it isn't even close

What about Rome 1?

Shogun 2
balanced in just the right way
>animations
shogun 2 has all the individual units fighting little battles, cutting each others heads off and shit
but yeah the animations are somewhat rigid in a lot of places
warhammer 2 has a lot more troop variety but at the cost of the combat animations, i hate seeing a lord swing his hammer, hit nothing, but send ten enemies flying, who all land and immediately stand back up, and then you see a dinosaur stomp the ground and ten models just explode in half
i miss sync kills, is all

Why does nobody ever talk about the original Shogun and Medieval? The original Shogun has definitely aged but Medieval still holds up and has godly atmosphere and music.

>The original Shogun has definitely aged but Medieval still holds up and has godly atmosphere and music.
??? And the original Shogun doesn't have godly atmosphere and music?

Lmao I remember I time when there was endless whining about synced animations because it wasn't like Rome 1 or Med 2 where individual soldiers being outnumbered mattered.

Because Shogun 2 is better than Shogun and Medieval 2 is better than Medieval.

Most of Zig Forums is too young for then. And even if they're old enough, those games are extremely barebones and don't work well on modern machines. Rome 1 and Medieval 2 are the sweet spot; they're complex enough to be beloved and recent enough that most people in TW threads have played them at least once.

>TW Engine 1: 2000-2003
>TW Engine 2: 2004-2008
>Warscape Engine: 2009-Present
FUCKING INNOVATE YOU FUCKS. THE WARSCAPE ENGINE IS HORRIBLE. It's like every new release they put some fucking duct tape on it.

shouldnt you know if you really have them all?
or do you just buy shitton of games and never play them like a retard

Medieval 2 with Stainless Steel if you want a fun TW game
Warhammer 2 if you like fancy effects, I guess
