I'm about to start playing this for the first time.
What would Zig Forums recommend for a first playthrough; do i need the cut content version of the fanpatch, any special clan i should choose?

Toreador gal is best first playthrough. You have a good mix of combat and social skills to explore and you can level your super speed to blitz past the extra shitty sections of the game. And you look cute.

People like to say don't play malkavian/nosferatu on your first run. It's fine to though, just be aware you'll be getting a pretty different experience to the rest of the clans and the game may be more confusing. Doesn't mean you shouldn't but it's up to you, if you do it's recommended to play through again with a different clan and then certain aspects of the game will make more sense retroactively

invest heavy into bloodmagic and meele but don't forget to buy some firearms
it's for sewers and some of the final bosses

Why are trannies so keen on roleplaying as women in vidya? You will never be a woman IRL, stop trying to force other people to be women too or to normalize your transexuality.

Anything but Malkavian or Nosferatu since they are game changing and extremely lame, being quirky and random or missing 90% of the content because you have to use sewers is not fun.

The vanilla to go is either Ventrue or Brujah, if you care about lore Ventrue are the clan who always decide the future of the world, end up in charge, etc so it's what canonically fits best a protagonist, but you pick whatever you want, Tremere blood magic is extremely poorly done in that game though.

Intimidation doesn't do anying, nor does perception really - don't go nuts investing in them

Fag advice. Don't take it. The questionnaire is poorly done. You pick bribe? You get ventrue, even if Ventrue were known for being knights and not pussies who need to beg and pay people not to be beaten. You pick you like jogging? Gangrel. You pick you solve things with violence? You get Brujah.

That's not how it works, you don't become a Ventrue because you have money to bribe people, if your character becomes a Ventrue is because your sire thinks you have ambition and will to conquer the world, if you're rebellious you will be chosen by a Brujah, if you're extremely beautiful or an incel you will be embraced by a nosferatu, if you're not like other girls you will be embraced by Toreador.

You don't become a certain clan because you picked Bribe on a questionnaire

This. My first playthrough with Tremere I think I quit really early on, due to them being pretty generic and uninteresting. I guess if you like OP blood magic they're ideal but Toreador was the most fun for me, doing matrix-style bullet time and passing all the social skill checks. Pretty based.

Early game Intimidation does the same shit as investing in the other social skills, but later on all it’s used for is goading NPCs into attacking you faster than if you failed to persuade them otherwise. It’s a trap option that never has good payoff unless you want to pretend that green font helps roleplay your thuggish character better.

tremere. honeslty, just pick whatever you feel like using to exploit combat, the rest whatever you feel like. the combat is so fucking atrocious.

The only time Malkavian is effective is if it's your first playthrough. If you don't play Malk first, you are forever denying yourself the experience.

Stay far away from the fan patch. Download the unofficial patch if you want to get some bugs fixed, but don't install anything that adds content.

fighting is still weird but you can pretty much get into the groove of it

Just read a bit of the wiki of each clan and pick the one that appeals to you the most, if you're the sort of guy that cares about canon then go Ventrue, if you care about gameplay then go Brujah, if you want to live your fantasy of not being an ugly incel pick Toreador, if you wanna self insert pick Nosferatu, leave Malkavian for the anti roleplaying schyzo.

Toreador with high seduction and persuasion was my first run. Dont worry, if you do side quests and look around for extra Exp you'll have enough points for weapons and close combat. And don't open it etc. etc.

dont pick brujah. i was told to play them on my first playthrough. they're really boring compared to the rest, and don't show the game in its best light. go for a more socially active clan, so you can experience the writing more, and roleplay more.

and use just the basic patch version, not the cut content. and make sure you run the game thorugh the .exe the patch installer creates, dont launch it through steam, etc.

and take your time. explore, talk to NPCs, dont look at guides obviously. just roll with your choices.

I don't know. Toreador is basically the blandest clan in the game alongside Brujah. One is better choice for firearms and other for unarmed, but that's it. Gangrel would be the best unarmed choice if Protean woof attack animation wasn't shit.

Seduction has more uses if you're playing a female and Intimidation got shafted overall. Yeah, Persuasion is basically too good and obvious go to social skill if you're investing i one.
