X is great, GX is amazing.

Just try out X and GX.
The 2D games are good, but if you want to REALLY know why Zig Forums drools all over it, you gotta play GX.

A beginner should know that there are 2 kinds of F-Zero games: 2D and 3D (yes, I know they're all "3D" but the 2D ones use sprites).

The 2D ones use different mechanics from the 3D ones, so skill in those does not necessarily translate to the 3D games.

The 2D games are:
F-Zero (Snes) - The original. It's tough but fun. Remember you can adjust pitch with up and down.
F-Zero Maximum Velocity (GBA) - Released between F-Zero X and GX, this game features an almost entirely new cast. It was a GBA launch title, so it was trying to flex the system's muscle. It's fun.
F-Zero GP Legend (GBA) - Loosely follows some of the plot beats of the anime while featuring the anime cast. It's more F-Zero.
F-Zero Climax (GBA, JP only) - It's good.

Bumping, will have 3D in next post.

The 3D games are:
F-Zero X (N64) - The largest F-Zero roster until GX came out. This game is fast and the music is some good metal. The whole experience is great. The N64 Disc Drive features a track creator, but good luck playing it.

F-Zero GX (GCN) - The real shit. It's tough as nails and the music is amazing. Made by the Super Monkey Ball people, it's "blink and you miss it" fast. There's a lot of advanced tech, so you've got a lot of game to master. The cast is also enormous and there's a custom vehicle maker. There's an arcade version, F-Zero AX, that's almost entirely on the GCN disc. Most of the AX stuff is unlockable in-game too, but good luck beating everything in story mode unless you practice.

GX is my personal favorite, but X is a great time too.

I'll only buy a switch when they release Metroid, Star Fox and F-ZERO games
For now I'll see it as a manchild's toy:
>LOL MARIO XDD
>WOW ZELDA :O
>OMG POKEMON!!!
>YAY ANIMAL CROSSING :D

thanks guys I will keep these in mind
I no longer own a gamecube sadly and my wii doesn't work anymore, is the wii u capable of hombrew channel installetion with so I can at least emulate X and GX in it?

Yes it is. Also, Dolphin is pretty good for GX, if you can't put it on Wii U for some reason. Get ready for some fucking fast in HD.

I should add that GX incorporates most of the cast of X, but also adds a shitload of unlockables. X has no shortage of unlocks, but GX adds even more on top.

GX also could also give players a code to upload their times to online leaderboards which are now defunct. There's a lot of cool little things in GX that I wish could be expanded upon in a sequel.

Unless Sega is doing it there's no point. Nintendo would fuck it up and even Shiggy know this.

Play Fast RMX

Differences between the wii u and switch version? I still play my wii u right alongside my switch.

Fast RMX is the worst AG racer, people need to stop recommending it.

Play either Wipeout or Redout

I'd prefer a new Wave Race.

Would be good too.

how would they fuck it up

>I just wish Sega would make a new F-Zero game
FTFY, Nagoshi is one of the best game directors in history and while I love Yakuza, I wish he’d make another racer. Daytona USA and F Zero GX are the pinnacles of the genre

Last I checked the reason why they haven't bothered with it are the same reasons they haven't bothered with a new Star Fox in its classic SNES/N64 style: No point (to nintendo) if they can't create some innovative way to change gameplay.

GX is the best one.

I'm actually glad modern Nintendo forgot all about it. Be careful what you wish for, user.

Any of them really

There's only one mediocre one.

Nitronic Rush was pretty good.
Imagine if somebody made a FORZA game with F-zero hovercars.

It's not that there's no point, it's that they know they can't do better. SF Zero could've been better but they resigned it to be ruined by bad control gimmicks.

Redout is shit m8

>gatcha f-zero

They can innovate it by creating a decent online system.

No, stop writing!
You want to give them bad ideas?!
F-Zero GX U is what you should write instead.

I like the maneuvers in X better than GX. Just felt nicer to pull off somehow. Otherwise GX is basically better all around.

This does seem to be the reason, but I don't get why they'd be so hung up on that point. Smash isn't some crazy new gameplay. Mario 3D world didn't have anything too crazy new either.

Star Fox Zero didn't quite wow people so I can get them being gun shy on that. But F-Zero has been ignored so long that there's no real pressure to have it be super innovative. Just make a new entry that does what it does really well and they'll make a million dollars. Pet rock style.

And risk stealing Mario Kart's thunder? Never.

Online multiplayer is reason enough to make a new one. The cold hard fact is that Nintendo won't make a new one because F-Zero doesn't sell.
