Absolutely zero of the recolours in the Final Mix games were any good at all. I have no idea why they intentionally made every single enemy in the game look worse.

They recolored every Heartless for every remake. It's an arbitrary thing they do.

Phantom was an upgrade.

They’re called HEARTLESS. Thematically darker colors and hues would fit better most of the time.

Because they brought him in line with his new design in later games.

I'd argue Wyvern looked a bit better. There was nothing wrong with his original color though.
Same for Stealth Sneak and Phantom. The rest seemed like downgrades.

The tippy top Nobodies, the Organization, are the exception, not the rule. All of the lesser monster Nobodies abide by the laws they gave them.

They were using their memories of their past human lives to simulate emotions for appropriate responses. In truth as Nobodies they felt nothing, but as they continued to live their lives eventually new hearts would grow in their bodies and they would cease to be Nobodies.

That is why Nobodies are hollow shadows of life.

To add to that, it shows in their designs as well.
Nobodies are made of some sort of fabric with nothing inside them. That's why they look like something in Nomura's dresser, they are just fabric shells.
Heartless have shadowy mass to them and behave like monsters. There may be an in-game explanation why the artificial ones are based on the world's theme, like Pirate Heartless in Neverland, like where they requested to look like that, did they just take on the world's theme? Maybe they take on the appearance of whosever heart they stole?
