Pretty much my experience with Witcher 3.
Too much shit to do that the mais quest becomes a joke
Did they fix this in Xenoblade DE
this combined with the side quests becoming unavailable after progressing to a certain degree with the main quests is even worse. either you lock yourself out of the side quests or you do them and make the main story a breeze.
>game has a shit ton of sidequests
>Once you reach the recommended level for a quest the quests and rewards scale up with you

sauce?
NNNNOOOOOOOO
WHY THE FUCK AM I GETTING A BONER!? I HAVEN'T GOTTEN HARD IN FOUR DAYS BUT THIS.....AAAAA WHY DO I WANT HER TO PIN ME DOWN!?
>Game adds level scaling to fix this
>idiots on Zig Forums bitch
The neverending cycle
>overleveled
that's a meme term
nope, im a good 16 levels over every enemy in makna right now
Some people like a challenge and when you exceed the enemy in raw power to such a degree that you can neglect game mechanics (like strategy in a turn-based RPG or dodging in an action game for example) I'd say you're overleveled. How is it a meme term?
>witcher 3
>side quests give fuck all xp and shit rewards
>main quests give like 2 levels per and shit rewards
surely after 30 years of good RPGs devs would have learned by now?
>game removes leveling and makes it skill based
>Chads on Zig Forums cheer
Xenobade Chronicles 2 fixed this and was never implemented never again, shows that JRPG nigger don't enjoy a challenge.
The game needs a way to bring unique rewards rewards up to your own level.
>game requires intricate prior knowledge of all the quests/locations in order to not over level
>requires an experienced player and forward planning to dodge all the experience and arrive at a point without being over leveled
>have to strategically hit bare minimum story triggers to have a proper challenging and fun boss fight
WHY NOT JUST REMOVE LEVELS FROM RPGS
>game gets remake
>overlooked party member get absurd buff
Not enough of a dopamine fix without it
I don't think that worked for Paper Mario very well.
To keep you from cutting straight to the end immediately.
im still mad they killed my favorite mario sub-franchise

Too bad.
People don't like level scaling for the opposite reason. That any sense of threat is killed because everything in the game is made manageable for the player.
You mean doing the levels in order like in every other video game?
If the game even has levels. It really depends on the style of game.
but the way skyrim did it was retarded, their brand of level scaling in Fallout 3, Skyrim and Fallout 4 are "generic enemy except more of a bullet sponge"
Funny thing is it's not as though it's even a realistic mechanic.
Sure the idea of getting better and developing skills is realistic. But it's not as though a seasoned warrior is able to just ignore a novice swinging a blade at him.
I remember a game dev once talking about the idea of lateral leveling (as opposed to linear leveling) where leveling only gives you need abilities to use with zero stats boosts. So you don't actually get stronger, you just get more options available. Wish more games would do that shit.
Very few RPGs let you just waltz up to the final boss. Most still have a quest-chain.
It's been done. When there is no levels, progression is determined by stats and gear. Hence World of Warcraft endgame progression.
whoa big
Naoto needed those buffs in P4G
