Coming from someone with far more time in GD than PoE, honestly I don't mind this aspect at all. I'd rather have meme builds be viable but exponentially more expensive than meta builds for endgame content rather than meme builds just being straightup impossible due to the itemization of the game. What keeps me from fully investing into PoE is the always online (because I get 100 ping minimum and endgame bosses require low ping) and all the completely irrelevant content in the game that just creates absolutely massive bloat. Why the fuck did delirium need to get added to standard?

It used to be, but somewhere along the way all the passives that actually do anything were nerfed into the ground. Probably because there's an item for everything now, and they felt they had to keep it balanced.

pvp is a non-consideration, when was the last time you played this game?

The difference between a 'viable' build and the build which 50% of the player-base is rolling is night and fucking day, and if the game were single player that wouldn't matter so much, but the issue is that just due to the very nature of the game being based around trading, you are fundamentally competing with all of those people playing meta builds. They will be gaining currency faster than you, and it won't just be a little bit faster, it will be double, triple your speed. It is impossible for me to seperate the optimisation from the fun because to play the builds that I want to play I need to gain currency, but when everybody is playing retard fast clear builds, my time becomes less valuable since the currency I get is worth less because there is more of it. The slower you go, the farther and farther you fall behind, so the idea of playing a build which isn't one of the meta skills, the skills that can move and clear, the skills that fire and forget, is fucking laughable.

I fucking hate that there is such a vast difference between the ceiling for clear speed and the floor, and I fucking hate that GGG just gave up trying to fix it and now just decide to buff a few set archetypes into the stratosphere each league because it's easier. I fucking hate that for GGG to make the game threatening to the top meta builds they have to make it absolutely shit on everything that isn't a top meta build. I hate that the absolute strongest defensive mechanic in the game is just killing everything the second it comes within two screens of your character.

I fucking hate Path of Exile. The treadmill used to be fun and cathartic, to an extent, but now it's just a building frustration.
