Is Outer Worlds worth at least one playthrough?

What does Zig Forums think of this game, worth a shot at least once?

It was popular for like a week or three and then I never saw a thread about it. Sounds like it was mediocre to me.

You've already played this game it just had a different title.

dont pay for it, but yea go for it.
if you dont like piracy i think the xbox pc thing has it for like 5 bucks

No

if you want to play it get the $1 game pass for it, if you pay more than $15 for it you will feel sorely disappointed.

Just stop playing after the first planet.

You can get a trial for £1/$1. I have it on my Xbox because you upgrade Xbox live to it for £1 so I paid £1 for this and £100 for 3 years of Live and now won't buy any games for 3 years

Got bored of it halfway through

I played though like half of it but I couldn't go on, sorry for the food analogy but it was like eating one of those super market microwave dinners that has no taste and exists just to fill you up.

Sure is, it's impossible to discuss it because of the OAG retards brigading it to hell. But it's not a bad Fallout 3/NV-esque game. It had a much smaller budget than bethesda's games and it shows, but it was decent for what it was.
In during shitstorm of retards who never touched it and pretend it was the worst thing ever made because it had an incel lesbian.

No, it's painfully boring. The "dude corporations lmao" thing is a bad joke.

The "dude, the corporations man" shit is SO on the nose that you think it has to be a joke and the twist is coming.

It never does, they were serious

Hardly anyone says it's the worst thing ever made, it was just bland and boring. It was not bad, and it was polished pretty well too, but it's the definition of average. Most 5.5/10 game to ever exist in my book.

I couldn't finish it, I was bored to death. Probably the most by the numbers uninspired rpg I've ever played. It's so painfully mediocre.

Game Pass it and uninstall after you finish the first world. Outer Worlds quality slowly dips after you take off and starts becoming a chore to play through. Most of my friends dropped the game on Monarch.

Fuck no. It's one of the most boring and lackluster rpgs i've had the displeasure of playing.

I personally think the gameplay is stale and boring and the graphics are ugly as fuck except the characters. Only that black chick Nikole or some shit? Was retarded and looked like she smelled or something. The story is okay I guess, I just did a bunch of side quests, that weren't really memorable it was just helping people.

Pirate it. It's honestly the perfect example of a 6/10 game. There's nothing really wrong with it, but there's nothing really good about it either. The writing is so bland and safe it hurts, and the companions are all so...nerf and pandery? It's one of those games that presents itself as brave for taking the bold stance that clearly evil shit is bad and clearly good shit is good.

As for the gameplay, it feels like a slightly Fischer Price version of New Vegas. The guns have almost no real variety and the underlying systems have all been streamlined to irrelevance, but you're still walking about scaled down worlds, exploring the very occasional set piece, and shooting stuff.

The roleplaying is where the game really falls flat. Because the writing is so stale and safe, you're rarely presented with any moral dilemmas and you're never forced to make tough choices. You're given three paths: Evil, Somewhat good, and actually good. There's no grey in any of it. It's all eat babies, don't eat babies, or eat Rice Crispies instead. The character side missions never really give you new information or perspectives either, they just serve to show how quirky these characters you already know are.

The first planet feels pretty good, and you may think that the game will get better as you go along, but it doesn't. That first planet is literally the BEST the game gets by a long shot. By the end of it, you've not only got the best armor and weapons, but you've also dealt with the toughest moral choice you'll face in the game.

After I gave up on Outer World's I bought Gothic from GOG.com. Never played it before, it looked like shit and played like shit, but I had a better time with it than Outer Worlds even though it has so many more flaws.

Imagine being so skullfucked you're offended by a game criticizing corporations.

Imagine how much the game would have improved if halfway through the game you found out that the corporations are evil because they have to be, because the entire network of planets is running out of resources and a greater evil is waiting.

Imagine all of your crew dealing with the revelation that they were basing their actions on flawed information and having to reconcile their morality with the very real possibility that a lot of people could die. That level of drama would have been genuinely great fodder of an RPG.

The corporation satire is about as on the nose as Pickle Rick. There's no intelligence to it, and it just keeps going. Imagine having a throw away joke and basing an entire story around it. Everyone pointed this out.

i have no idea how it got such high ratings
prob just the oblivion hypefags

It's not that the game criticized anyone. It's the way the game presents this criticism that gets annoying. If it had been subtle about it, where everything starts out wonderful and utopian on the surface but as the story goes on the player begins to peel back that illusion and see the world for what it really is, it might have worked. Instead you're left wondering why the fuck anyone would put up with the world the way it's presented. There's no thinking in it.
And don't get me started on discount Rick Sanchez being lol so random anti-government.

It's fallout 4 but better, so still worse than nv and 3.

It was written in such a way that it appealed to Game Journalists, it was safe, the gameplay and difficulty was also suitablly pedestrian which suits their limited skills and famous lack of effort, as actually playing games are now Herculean tasks for these people.

Reviewers rarely finish games. They play for maybe 10 hours, then write their review. The first few hours of The Outer Worlds aren't at all bad, and present simplistic systems that seem cool before you realize they're hollow. I could see someone going in fresh and writing a genuinely, honest and glowing review for the game after 5 or 6 hours.

I pirated it and it was so shit I just lost interest and uninstalled. It's not even worth playing for free.

This sums up my experience. Any time you have to ask "why isn't anyone talking about this anymore?" It's because it wasn't that great and all the praise was marketing signal boosting each other.

A) It starts off decent and gives the impression that it gets better and a large proportion of people don't finish shit
B) Playing off the usual "we made your favorite game and now we can make even more without those mean old publishers calling the shots!" meme
C) A desire for a real competitor to Bethesda being niggers

It's worth half a playthrough, maybe less than that. Don't pay for it, though.

I played it through the Microsoft subscription thing. Got maybe half way through it and quit because it was boring.
