Why is it so much better than RDR2?

Why is it so much better than RDR2?

I wonder if I grossly misremember this. I finished this up but turned off 2 after 30 minutes and never went back to it.

It's not. I loved it on release, but it's hard to go back to it after the sequel.

The writing in 2 is terrible. It's a shame because it holds back some pretty solid gameplay

They're both bad but at least 2 is more committed to the MUH SLOW PACED REALISTIC GAMEPLAY gimmick. Sets it apart at least

It's entertaining moment to moment, it just doesn't really connect into a great story when you put it all together

Both are good, RDR2 is just objectively better. There are definitely some things RDR1 did better but it pales to all the stuff RDR2 did better or added.

I previously thought the same as you but I replayed RDR1 recently and man... it's really not better than RDR2

>IMMENSE ATTENTION TO DETAIL!!!
>All revolvers shoot REVOLVER AMMO
>All Repeaters shoot REPEATER AMMO
>Repeaters magically do more damage despite being chambered in the same cartridge
>Speaking of cartridges, how about you go and load your cap and ball revolver with some. Don't worry, it'll work just fine.

This game has "Detail", if you're an absolute retard oblivious to anything going on around you.

The fact that rdr2 is one of the worst games ever made

it isnt

I hate how little gameplay RDR2 has. It has all those cool little mechanics that could've been interactive but aren't for no particular reason. Why isn't there a tiny mini-game attached to cooking or chopping wood or brushing the horse or a million other small things you do in the game? Why do I just hold the button to do every single one? It's like they tried to make it as unfun as possible. Holding a button is not more realistic than a fun little minigame, no, just more boring.

Because rdr2 is an unfinished game

Liked it better also liked John better. He wasn't a dullard like Arthur

I found the story to be forced and cliche, even preachy at times. It's a chore to slog through

yeah because people would loooooove having mini-games everywhere that make the game feel more tedious than it is.

I hate the shooting in the game, it lost all sense of challenge once I got 1/10th into it. They should of made it like GTA IV by making your movement slower, limiting Deadeye and making enemies do more damage. Oh and before I forget for a game that touts itself as being detailed to the last horse testicle why doesn't this game have a wound system where if you get shot fall off your horse you have to sleep off your injuries and/or go to a doctor and dish out all your money because you got too cocky in ur last gun battle.

>yeah because people would loooooove having mini-games everywhere
Those are all optional mechanics. You don't have to chop wood, but it would certainly be nice if chopping wood actually involved me aiming and chopping rather than holding X. Literally no way to making holding X more tedious, any change this "mechanic" would be an improvement

I have pretty mixed feelings about mini-games in this sorta thing.
It's like, they're cool and all, but, even hunting, I could just go play The Hunter: Call of the Wild and it's a whole game based around hunting, and has way more detailed mechanics than RDR2's hunting does. So, why hunt in RDR2 when I could go and play an actual game based around it.

Why drive in GTA if you could play a driving sim? What kind of retarded question is this?

The Hunter lacks the context of your hunting influences the characters at camp

I honestly think it is because you already played the first one. RDR was pretty revolutionary when it came out imo, and I remember being really blown away by the story, graphics, setting and rootin' tootin' shootin' gameplay.

If RDR2 and RDR swiched places graphically and in release, people would definitely prefer 2.

I agree the entire game should be auto running on a fucking horse. You should check out these things called ''movies'', you'd love em

I think it set a richer atmosphere than RDR2 with its ambient music and the way the story was constructed. Felt more like a western and although RDR2 took a brave step out of that and did a good job, it lost that western atmosphere that I personally enjoy very much. RDR2 is still fucking beautiful though.

This ain't shenmue

Sounds like you have shit taste

the only thing that annoys me with RDR2 is how little the survival mechanics matter and how easy it is to get money. You get so much cash that I didn't know what to do with it, it allows me to easily stock up on a fuck ton of items that fill all my gauges up super easily.

Also felt like there should've been more restrictive inventory. It's dumb that you can carry literally every weapon in the game and multiples of every consumable item. i'm fine with other items but jesus christ, not only is it a pain to swap through shit but it just makes it too easy to have a ton of consumables that can last you several in-game days.

More accurate would be "Why race in GTA if you can race in a racing sim"?
Which, yeah, I think that's a valid question.

It's quicker than a mini game and it's too give the world flavour

You're retarded, John is dumber

Not really, those are different kinds of game

retard, giving you busy work doesn't make the game more interesting, that's like saying organizing grains of sand is fun because you're doing something, they'd be better served by cutting out all the bullshit, not adding more

Some guy on reddit said that they worked on a lot of details and things nobody notice that they forgot to make the game even fun

>too
>dumber

Ah yes, the bi-weekly "let's shit on an acclaimed and well received game because I'm a Zig Forums intellectual". Don't you have some "Did you play her game, Zig Forums?" gacha and VN trash threads to start?

He is though

Yes it does, that's part of what sandbox games are. People have been asking for shit like refueling your car and other minor tasks because it gives wandering around more purpose and adds atmosphere
