Announced years ago, literally no gameplay shown.
Several delays, now a Series X title but ALSO fucking original vanillla Xbox One
Lost major staff including producer and creative director.
343 literally coming out saying "development is going fine :)"

I guarantee that if this had been any other franchise it would have been cancelled several times over, but since it's Halo Microsoft can't because it's literally ingrained with the Xbox brand. If Halo is bad then Xbox looks bad.

I have to say that the artstyle shift is brilliant because they managed to trick so many people into being excited for a Halo game simply by going back to old designs

H5's MP was better than Reach's too. The original trilogy is better of course.

I do still hold a slight amount of excitement though based on the fact that it seems like they're giving a genuine effort to please older fans. Wouldn't be surprised if they show rough gameplay in July only for it to get delayed to some capacity though

343 can't seem to even port the old games properly, what makes you think Infinite has a chance of being good? I mean, we at LEAST have modding support for MCC, that's a blessing and I will never look that gift horse in the mouth for a AAA game in 2020.

But a lot of the launches, despite having "flight tests", seem to have loads of bugs. Last I checked the sounds on plasma pistols are still broken in Combat Evolved. Coop is a lagfest. Magnums became inaccurate at higher framerates. Multiplayer is a mess of battle-pass bullshit progression with XP gains that are WAY too slow to be enjoyable to play.

Man I just want Halo 3 and ODST on PC to launch and be at least as playable as they were when I played them on Xbox 360 back in the day.

I can't man, I can't. I defended the plot for Halo 4, and the one for Halo 5, and I can't do it anymore with a good conscience. The years of damage done by Greg Bear, Karen Traviss and Eric Nylund (Only for Ghosts of Onyx) really did a number on the halo universe and thus, the story-line will only be shit. Unless they disavow those authors and do something new. Halo universe did something retarded. Unlike say, the Witcher series, where the games are based on an established universe from the initial books, the new halo story is based on books which is based on one game. This turn-table story gives authors enough creative freedoms to do liberal retcons, insert self ideologies and force narratives. I don't have the confidence that they will pull off an enjoyable and thrilling story like the original trilogy. I'll stick to watching the full campaign on youtube since I give fuck all for the multiplayer.

I'm happy to have Halo on PC again at all, but man I wish it was handled better than it's being handled. It could absolutely have been FAR WORSE though, like, the fact that some old Combat Evolved mods work with the MCC version is great, but I'm very conflicted on how to feel about the package on the whole thus far. On one hand, I'm having fun playing halo again on my favorite platform. On the other, it feels like I'm playing Halo as an early access game, which is a fucking sin for a franchise known for polish.

Only beaten by H4, which died in weeks - Even Reach managed to maintain a playerbase longer than anything 343i has put out.

I wasn't there when it came out but I can still find a match any time.
