You can respec at any point in time nigga. There are also easier difficulties available, so if the game seems to be too hard, you can always tone it down. If it becomes too easy, just turn it back up again. It's up to you.
That being said, they could have made it a bit clearer which stats are important for which archetype. The general effects are covered by the character creation sheet, but some of the archetypes' descriptions are pretty vague.

I miss the days when people were actually smart enough that they could actually figure out for themselves how a game worked. Nowadays you have (forced) dedicated tutorials just in case of that one guy who doesn't know that the spacebar is the button to jump.

Back when I was a dumb 12 year old kid, even I could figure out how to play Baldur's Gate 1. Managing to kill that upstairs guard at Candlekeep at level 1 (to get that delicious plate armor) felt like my proudest achievement back then.

Not really, you can have some sort of romance with her but that's it, no marriages, no kids, nothing. The most wholesome romance is going for a goat threesome.
Otherwise, yeah, if you enjoyed the gameplay in other CPRGs like NWN2 (the game uses systems that are pretty similar to it, minus the crazy multiclassing autism) you might enjoy it. It's pretty long, too, and you will most likely put something like 120 hours into your first playthrough.

To be fair, there's not much choice to character building in the BG games other than the initial character creation and not spreading your proficiency pips around like a fucking retard. Pathfinder/DnD3.x autism in regards of feats and multiclassing is an entirely different beast.

Nothing quite like heading to the Adventurers Guild in Phlan, hiring a high level Fighter and getting into a Kobold ambush on the bad side of town only to let the dumb fucker charge in while the rest of the party hanged back, and dropping a sleep spell on him, letting the kobolds kill him, then taking his magical armor & sword. Then going back to the guildhall to report his grisly fate and getting more adventurers to join your party. Fun times the amount of freedom you had.

The only save-scumming you typically need to do is during the tutorial, which is ironically the hardest part of the game on Unfair.

It lacks quite a bit of critical info, actually. Most offensively:
-Things only appear on the list AFTER you qualify for them. You might not even know some feat exists until you reach lv12 or something. Same with class-specific features like wild talents or discoveries, you won't find any info on them except for what you're getting at this particular level-up. You have no way of knowing what your character will have in the future, this really hurts your ability to plan.
-BAB and saving throw progression is not explained anywhere. Unless you know tabletop, you'll have no fucking idea that some classes get +1 per level, some 3/4th and some 1/2.

There is a button to see every talents, even the ones you don't qualify for, at the bottom of the talent page.

I don't know jack shit about D&D or Pathfinder. Just picked what I felt like and auto leveled-up companions. Played on normal at launch and reached act 5 (then had a game breaking bug). yep spent a hundred something hours in this game and felt like nothing really happened, its incredibly boring, overly complicated for no reason, and the story is slug pace
