Any video games that address suicide?
Any video games that address suicide?
Yeah basically every shooter increases your respawn timer or docks points if you kill yourself.
No video game will ever accurately address suicide because it's primarily affecting white men, and is a growing issue due to the erosion of white male culture.
Well, that didnt took long lol
YEAH, I'LL GIVE YOU A GAME THAT ADDRESSES SUICIDE. THIS GAME MAKES ME WANT TO BLOW MY FUCKIN BRAINS OUT WHILE TAKING A BATH IN A PILE OF DONKEY DOODOO! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!

Based and truthpilled.
A great, classic game does just that.
>the erosion of white male culture
Cool.
Natives and whites have a fairly similar suicide rate.
Which, I guess makes sense when you're talking about a group of people who've had their homeland taken from them by an invasive outside force.
Look at Heavy Rain. The whole game can be depressing and each character can die many ways or kill themselves.
Ah yes, it's not systemic gender roles like toxic masculinity making men feel weak for having emotions, not living up to made up standards, and our unhealthy habits of giving children delusions of grandeur. It's the blacks fault for existing that's causing young white men to jump off of cliffs.
there's nothing wrong with weak white men killing themselves
>Suicide rate literally increasing as we move away from traditional gender roles.
>Yes! This is working!!
Anti-intellectualism is a very unattractive trait.
When the static calls my name is a really weird little game for free on steam, it's free and lasts like 10 minutes
Suicide rate was actually at its lowest when those gender rolls were in place, actually.
>Commit suicide
>Reload from last checkpoint
I don't video games are the best medium for handling seppuku.
>big spike in male suicide rates around the time of the suffragette movement
Suicide hurts women the most.
>traditional gender roles
in terms of the lower classes, these roles have existed for like, 100 years, tops.
I think video games more than other mediums have trouble with depicting suicidality, the added immersion of player control and agency normally makes it so suicide isn't a sensible choice to take, i think it would take a really talented team to be able to make a game about suicide that actually deals from it from the players perspective, rather than an outside one.
I'm just gonna ramble for a bit about why i think there's not a lot of serious games about suicide.
There's a long history of games being considered for children, so more serious topics are still touched rarely, or with lots of abstraction and weirdness (for some examples of games like this, dys4ria and )
I think a good example ofwhy suicidality is rarely touched is depression quest, so in depression quest, the main impetus is a pretty milquetoast message "take your meds, keep in contact with people, don't let yourself spiral into depression", in order to bring this message home, the gameplay mechanics have to steer the player away from the "correct option" (a side note that i think is important here is that suicide in most games isn't a win state for the obvious reason that it doesn't make for very satisfying endings) it steers the player away from the correct options is by limiting player control, showing possible choices that implies if the game wasn't fictional, could be taken, now depression quest had a lot of problems, chiefly being that the developer was really, really not aware of the psychological quirks of depression (no, "go out with your friends and have a good time" is not an instant get out of mental illness free card), but it's one of the few attempts to really gamify depression and suicidality.
Also, this is a potentially interesting thread with fucking awful posters, i hate this board so fucking much.
>in terms of the lower classes, these roles have existed for like, 100 years, tops.
Associating gender roles with suicide rates may be disingenuous but it is a fair point to assert some type of correlation between the increase in suicide rate and the effects of the cultural drive that also caused the diffusion of the gender roles.
Fortunately we can track the past 100 years of suicide and see how that correlates to large cultural movements.
Cry of Fear addresses the topic
>white male culture
im fucking dead holy shit
>in terms of the lower classes, these roles have existed for like, 100 years, tops.
lmao I'm sure in the feminist fantasy history you have in your head lower class women 200 years ago were all strong independent females that had jobs outside their houses and their husbands would stay home playing wii and raising their boyfriends son's.
I cant think of any games that really address suicide, but theres been plenty of games that have made me want to commit suicide.
Always happens when i finish a VN, the no-gf gap left is always crushing
Yume Nikki
Just as the white man builds a stone house with a thick roof to protect himself from the elements, he builds a society which caters to his needs, a culture which he thrives in, a world of his own creation which caters to his base instinct.
To destroy that culture is to attack the very foundations of that man, to attack him mentally and drain him physically. It's not surprise that under such constant attack, some opt not to keep fighting.
league of legends
>white male culture
Because the Irish, Russians, French, Germans, Brits, Romanians, Dutch, Swiss, and Swedes all have the same culture amongst its male populace and they get together just fine, no fighting whatsoever
"Insert race" culture is pretty stupid my dude. I know "black culture" is getting pushed pretty hard right now, which is retarded.
The black somali guy i know and the black south african guy i know dont get along very well. Nor do they share any common sentiments about blacks
Deep.
>Associating gender roles with suicide rates may be disingenuous
No, it isn't. The number 1 reason males commit suicide is an inability to fulfill their gender role. It's not a coincidence that those at highest risk for suicide are middle aged men who have been divorced and are estranged from their family. Often this happens because the legal system is geared towards favoring this outcome for partner separation. The system is rigged to get men to kill themselves. This is well known but nobody cares to do anything about it because a) no sacrifice is too great when done at the altar of women and b) men are disposable so who gives a fuck about them anyway?

It's the same in every country where women and minorities are getting more empowered though. The suicide rate for men is increasing in basically every western nation, there may not be a shared unity among the victims, but there is a shared unity among the attackers.
what about nips
Same story really.
Powerful masculine nation brought down hostile outside force. In this case it was the Americans.
41%
I wonder if that statistic adds to the male or female suicide rate.
can you recommend me a VN, user? feeling pretty suicidal right now
Depression Quest.
So theyre offing themselves because they feel like they have no affirmation? I suppose it is a pretty realistic idea when you consider how much people value their social standing.
As much as i hate to admit it, i feel like mass media plays a much larger part in this than race. The race is just the platform for attack, I would think its the constant barrage of attacks that make people feel like theyre on their own.
>primarily affecting white men
what are southeast asian countries
Lol not one mention of Silent Hill 2 yet. You people are genuinely awful.
>p-please, I need to be in a position of absolute power to function, or else I'll kill myself
Toxic masculinity still hard at work. Ever stopped to think why you feel you have to be dominant or die while other people don't? because you were mind washed into believing in a system that doesn't work for you. You choose the cliff.
SEA Male Suicide rate: 14.8
EU Male Suicide rate: 24.7
Belgium has a higher suicide rate than Japan.
suicide guy
Depends on how you deal with the suicidal tendencies. It seems stupid but i like to mope hard and read depressing shit when i feel down.
If you want happy uplifting harem adventure fun times, Evenicle by AliceSoft is pretty good for that. I just finished it, and outside of a few rape scenes, its happy vanilla sex with a harem of super cute girls. Its also an RPG + VN, so if you have a hard time focusing on reading for hours at a time, the actual game elements help to break it up.
If you want to feel happy then be moping for a week after youre done reading it, just read any Key visual novel like Clannad. Or read an Utsuge like Swan Song.
Andromeda for suiciding a whole franchise and arguably, the slow suicide of a whole company
