There's a certain environment archetype only found in video games, to my knowledge, which I happen to like a lot. My first contact with it was in Heimdall 2.
I'm not sue how to describe it, but I'll try: a human or otherwise intelligent-made structure, usually restrained in style, impossibly floating in a starry mystical void.
I'll post the examples I know, and I appreciate if you could tell me other games that also do this.

For some reason the background in this pic is pure black, but in the game it featured a scrolling starry background. Also, this location had teleporters and Escher-inspired impossible architecture.
This is the same zone but modded into Diablo I Belzebub. I just think it's too cool that modders made this so I have to include it.
Another classic.
This one's is cheating a bit but I'm running out of examples.
I don't have any more. Feel free to contribute if you want, or just talk about cool environments you enjoy in vidya
The end of Final Fantasy 4 has this.
Also the end of Star Ocean 3, though its not man made in the sense of build physically, its complicated, but it has the same aesthetic you are talking about here.
This happens in shittons of games. Fuck.
Hades is one i remember. Im playing ys 8 and i bet i will see a similar thing later in the game.
Its also kind of cheating but mario galaxy.
Zig Forums or just (you) is shilling this game very hard to me, ill be sure to play it after i finish ys 8.

Thanks, I'll check them out.
I'm not shilling U8 lmao I haven't seen anybody talk about the game in like 2 years
there's a place like this in Divinity: Original Sin
Is Ultima 8 any good? I heard nothing but bad things so I never bothered with it. Then again, Ultima fans claim 7 is great but I thought it was complete shit. The combat ruins it.
The GBA harry potter games
popolocrois has a part like this youtu.be
Torment : Tides of Numenera has some
The Neverhood has a lot like this
The vidya industry really likes this, huh. Ive got a picture of the final battle in divinity 2 but i cant upload it because my ip is banned from posting images.
I dont know of any Scottish shitposters aside from myself.
I think dark souls 2 has a part like this or it was a dream
better picture
trails in the sky 3
Bastion?
Thanks for the suggestion, guys, writing them all down.
Eh, it's like 40 mb. Just checking it out yourself might be best.
Pretty much any isometric JRPG has to have a tiles floating in void section, it's written in game dev law
Goddamn this game is beautiful.
beautiful visuals, nice world to explore (better than britain), makes you feel lonely (you are, no buds, but it has an oppresive atmosphere), budget diablo combat completely different from 7's jank, game was rushed to finish and it shows (one school of magic is unavailable despite the plot requiring you to master all the magic schools). a lot was cut from the game, you can read about it here:

my favourite ultima (but it was a formative experience for me; still my favourite). fuck ea.

Dummy
Either way, Trails of Cold Steel games have these.
The end of STM IV:A
>Trails of Cold Steel
Okay, but good games only. Should have specified.
The gameplay aspect isn't bad, actually. Now that I think of it it's not even the only kiseki arc with such dungeons
Wizardry 8 has a final area like this.
