Thoughts on Killer7

Killer7 is truly an unique game, so I want to discuss it, Killer7 thread! Minor spoilers ahead.

>In the gameplay department it's pretty competent, personas have different abilities and strenghts which are really pronounced (except coyote, which I never used that much). I feel that the gameplay is better in the early-game where you aren't so strong, which makes the fights more dangerous and engaging, they introduce some harder enemies later on to balance the power-ups that you gain, but they weren't that difficult. This may be different however on hard mode, where weakpoints are removed.

>Puzzles are really simple and straightfoward, which is fine, but I think they could have been contructed in a better way, having to switch characters just to resolve the puzzle is time-consuming, the ring puzzles are just as brainless but atleast they don't waste the player's time that much. Iwazaru's tips could also have been in text form as to not waste time since he likes to repeat that one frase a lot.

>Visuals and music are fantastic, it has a very simple style but it's great at building atmosphere, certain parts are legitimately scary, which is enhanced by it's great soundtrack and sound effects. I Also like that the more violent/mature stuff is in service of the story and are (for the most part), tastefully done.

>The greatest strenght of Killer7 is the story, I have to admit I was lost until the end. I could figure out some themes that run through the game and some plot points, but I was pretty confused. That doesn't mean the plot is bad, it's just really complex and open-ended, every player will have a different understanding of the story, I had a lot of fun creating my own explanations to the events of Killer7 and comparing to other people theories. If you want a deeper understanding of the game, check out this plot analysis: gamefaqs.com/gamecube/562551-killer7/faqs/38193. It really helped me appreciate the game more.

It's an amazing experience, go play it!

Is the PC port of this any good? I remember playing the game on the Gamecube years back and being pleasantly surprised by it.

I played the gamecube version, but I heard only good things about the PC port.

I believe the most recent No More Heroes spinoff also confirmed it takes place in the same story universe

Shill.

>except coyote, which I never used that much
You're fucked.

Do I look like a guy who wants to play doubles?

'heaven smile' is the more appropriate word

The soundtrack is well done.

It's a good port, mouse aiming makes it a lot easier though.

Have it on PS2, I got to a level where you had to shoot these rolling balls with faces using the girl character, couldn't fucking do it and never got round to playing it again.

One of the most underappreciated threads and an amazing game overall. Truly kino; we'll never get anything like it again because video game companies and the modern age are shit.

Just shoot the one with green around it and you can kill it no problem, they aren't that difficult. What really gave me trouble is the one that uses his corpse as a tire and runs at you super fast, fuck those guys.

Suda has a lot of interesting ideas, but goes out of his way to present them in the most obscure and schizophrenic way possible. I think a lot of people like him because of this obscurity, but personally I think it gets in the way of the story.

It isn´t bad, it´s just overshadowed by the broken butterfly

I have Killer is Dead on 360 somewhere but never played it, is it related to Killer 7? Box sorta looks the same

All Suda51 games are sort of implied to take place in the same story universe, but i don't think that one has any direct connections to any other game of his.

No, they're not related

Suprisingly made me enjoy a railshooter. The style and story about east vs west culture clash was just a kino bonus.

Should I play Killer7 or No More Heroes first?

There's no real chronological order. If you're playing by release then start with Killer 7.

It's nice to see how his games and ideas evolved, so I would suggest you go even further back if you are interested, but Killer7 is a good start.

Yeah, I agree with you. The way he presents his ideas is kind of weird and can get in the way of the story sometimes. Some of the more silly scenes also doesn't mesh well with some of the more obscure and darker themes.

I mean... other characters could do what he does but better. I Just switched to him if there was a puzzle.

I read an interview about Killer7 in Edge magazine years ago and he says "this game is like, a shit [his apprentices behind him scoff]" It was something he made because he hated the industry or something. I'll try to find the magazine.

There's always time to have fun. It's friday night.

>I would suggest you go even further back if you are interested
Which game would you suggest then?

>this game is like, a shit
Probably means he got the idea on his toilet

The Silver Case

Coyote is Dan, but with far better stability.
