I just finished DE (never played the series before) and I hate all of you for not convincing me to play it earlier by telling me that Takahashi clearly got off to reading BLAME! and the LEGO Exo-Force manga and just stuck the two together with some JRPG bullshit intertwined.

If you rush to get the mechs and do minimal exploration before then, then yeah getting the mechs and the flight module can ruin the exploration a bit. I did a ton of exploring before I got them though so I never felt like they made the game less fun, only enhanced it.

Who told you that? I mean it's clear that Skell combat is more limited than grounded combat since their cooldowns are slower and are less maneuverable. But exploration opens up when you unlock them, which is the best part of the game.

You do have to do a bit of grinding just to obtain your first one, then grind money to get everyone on your team one.

This, I took twenty minutes to swim my ass to Sylvalum, and made sure to place a probe there so I can teleport back and explore more. I gotta say, when I arrived for the first time, it was fucking magical. The music and being a low leveled guy exploring uncharted territory enhanced the experience insanely.

How often to Xenoblade threads have clear outsiders who don't play the games? Outside of the recent "It's censored and downgraded!" shitposter, when was the last time you saw one that clearly didn't play the games?

IMO it is at least slightly similar.
To me, Xenoblade 1 has an amazing opening and middle, but has a decline in the latter half.
Xenoblade 2 has a great opening, then it falls off for a while in the middle, then the latter half of the game is really really good. The ending is one of my favorite endings in all of videogames.

Also, use more party configurations. I managed to get Shulk and Reyn to max affinity before I was out of Satorl Marsh, and now I'm at at least green with all my party members, and all I needed to do was just mix up my party configuration every so often and spam chain attacks with those configs.
