Humans can survive without meat but they're usually not in peak health without at least some in their diet. It makes me sad and I don't eat meat often but occasionally I get such strong cravings for it to the point where I can't focus on anything else as much. I want lab-grown meat to improve to the point where it's nutritionally the same as real high quality meat, because I'll switch to eating that instead in an instant.
Nature is shitty sometimes though. I get annoyed when people talk about how beautiful nature is and try to say unnatural things are inherently bad. That mouse getting ripped apart probably didn't feel the process was beautiful.

Yeah I never understood why people feed their pets live baits, saw a snake snatch a puppy and crushed it to death it seems like, the puppy was placed in the cage.

It's not. It doesn't have fat or iron, and probably some other things too. The protein itself might be identical but there's a lot still missing, which means it won't be as nutritious.
It's a lot cheaper to make now though. Last time I checked it was down to like $200/lb, which is still way too expensive but a lot less than it originally was.

I'm pretty sure the people filming it know what they're doing is fucked up but they get away with it for the most part so they have no reason to stop. There's usually no reason to not give it a quicker death first, and even for snakes and stuff you can usually just warm it back up if it went cold to get them to eat it. They're just sadists.
