>antagonist’s motivation and plan LITERALLY make no sense
Antagonist’s motivation and plan LITERALLY make no sense
>okay i wanna save the world RIGHT NOW even though we have a millenium
>can it wait, like, one day dude
>nnnnno
But they do. He just went at it too fast and without enough preparation.
>Set in Britain
>Villain is a paki
Makes sense to me.
They are bound to run out of ideas if they keep doing the same game
what else did you expect from a human being who actually chose to get this haircut
Honestly, they could've saved these games's "story" by simply axing Rose and his goons and just made Eternatus as the one and only endgame boss. Make up something that might've disturbed the alien from its slumber or imply that it was stating to show activity after so many years and Rose wanted the champion match to be over as fast as possible (as in he knew it was dangerous with everyone in the stadium, but still wanted to rack in the cash due to his fear of economic collaps and thinking "You know, maybe one more fight with super sized pokemon won't wake the thing that's sleeping under out city just yet") and boom, final boss. It feels like they just copy pasted the way Alola handled its evil teams, except they screwed it up half the way in.
Sure it does. you just need to think like this.
Dad-mode is a dumb hunk, dumbass has panic due overinflated Ego ("Only -i- can solve this problem, i can't risk that there is no one else like me born around when it is relevant, and we need to make changes NOW due the future") and wants the Achivement of "Saving Galar".
Chunky Hunky also obviously wants Leon in prime condition for his fight against Eternatus, when will Leon be in said Prime Condition? Why the Final of course, therefore if Charizard Fucker considers the finals more important and the future Galar less important (after all, if they wait after Leon and his Pokémon would be tired and/or dismotivated) his Sugar Daddy will have to capitalize and cause a situation where he IS motivated.
Rose is well intentioned but forceful and DUMB and approached his SAVE GALAR with a "MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY" because of his ego, a Ego Galar really helped feed.
Honestly the actual confusing shit is the Bede situation, i honestly really got vibes that Oleanna set Bede up because he was a rude fuck and making the Chairman look bad and she be crazy for Daddy D attention and he was competition.
Rose isn't that smart, but he seems to been talented in scouting and finding opportunities, so Smart people work for him, and boosted him up (Oleana made the Dynamax Rings IIRC, she isn't dumb, but she blatantly makes bad decisions explitly due him (Attacking (you) when you are literally the second strongest Trainer in Galar at worst, which she acknowledges after she loses.)
TL;DR: Rose was a retard enabled by "smart" people who in their gratitude for him helping them failed to see and point out when he was being dumb, as a result he ended up overinflating his ego and made a poor decision due it due overestimating his own competence, when in reality it was not he who was competent, it was the people he surrounded himself with.
M8, the pressure got to him. He was so loved and the expectations of him were so high it twisted his logic. Why doesn't anyone understand this?
>character does something that makes no sense
>“THEY’RE JUST STUPID AND INSANE!!”
Every time.
He would make sense if he was second in command and the higher ups kept ignoring the issue for years on end each time he brings it up.
But he's the fucking boss, this plan could have been done years ago
Ok but if he knew this was coming for a while, why did he have to take action on the one day the stadiums were packed?
pokemon villains have been shit ever since gen 1 and the only exception is ghetsis
I'm pretty sure it was just coincidence that the earliest possible time the thing could awaken happened to be the day of the tournament. People trying to apply their own logic to the character are missing the point, in that character's mind saving Galar has to take priority over everything; it doesn't matter that the problem is 1000 years away because the tournament by comparison is literally nothing.
Isn't it stated that he been collecting Wishing Stars that he needed for a while, he probably hit the projected amount he needed for the plan around the time he approached Leon (IE: lague Finals). I think there is a NPC that explicitly notes that he never puts off solving problems if he can do so immediately (as being part of the reason he is liked.).
We should remember that he was still collecting Wishing Stars when he "disowned" Bede and the wall incident.
We should also remember that he (like all of Galar) was had Disinfo about the Day of Darkness to start with since Z-Dogs were erased from history, which probably made him underestinate Eternatues (Compare a Pokémon that could be beaten by two humans with tools and one that needed two humans and two Legendary Pokémon with tools).
The actual flaw of Rose is that he actually did exactly what you said, solved the issue as soon as he could.
And remember, at the end of the day Rose won, Eternatus awoke and was beaten up, and it is even a more beneficial situation, because Eternatus is now under human control and not just sealed away.
>in that character's mind saving Galar has to take priority over everything; it doesn't matter that the problem is 1000 years away
But this is a stupid and crazy thing to think, so it comes back to his motivations being that he's just stupid and crazy.
Rose is a businessman first and foremost. Your right hand man is the goddamn Champion. Imagine how much praise and publicity you would get if the scary situation is immediately calmed down by your workers.
Rose quite literally admits to waking Eternatus up himself.
Yes because that's the earliest possible day it could be done, otherwise he would have done it earlier.
>adults trying to psychoanalyze a game literally made for toddlers
>Human beings can survive around 3 days without water.
>This means that I'm around 72 hours away from a horrific death by dehydration
>Securing water has to be my top priority
>I can't afford to wait in line for the water fountain
>I have to shove everyone out of the way
>This is a compelling motivation
>adults trying to psychoanalyze a game made by adults
Yes
Sun and Moon tried to have an interesting story and you all whined about "muh cutscenes waaahhh!!!"
>Rose admits to awakening a giant alien monster when he could have waited and puts everyone in the stadiums in danger, all on the jumbotron for the whole fucking world to see
>Nah his actions were completely understandable
Do you know where you are?
Why even bother if the cutscenes are undubbed?
>Piers singing
>Silence with some background music
Stop avoiding criticism
>adults
>Zig Forums
You don't need to have a cutscene every few minutes to make a reasonable villain. Fuck you don't even need cutscenes, just show his (non-retarded) motivation trough interactions with his goons or flavor text in his base.
From his own perspective yes, it’s not his fault Leon is being a child and putting muh sports ahead of the future of the nation
Story=/=Cutscenes.
Cutscenes are a way to tell a story, but not the only one and don't fucking pretend like SM/USUM wasn't overloaded in ones that couldn't be skipped. also Sw/Sh has a more interesting one with the Gym Challenge presentation and framing, it has flaws obviously, but fuck SMUSUM with its garbage and halfhearted commitments ("UBs AREN'T POKEMON" and then they are fucking Pokémon), should used BW as a example if you wanted a point.
>enjoyed by competitive players
>meta is as stale as it can get to the point that even introducing new pokémon would not change it much
what a fucking hack
Name one Pokemon game where the actions of the antagonist make sense.
he's a bastard
>BUT I WANNA DO IT NOOOOOOOOOOOW
>NOOOOOO PEOPLE HAVE NEVER HAD LAPSES IN JUDGMENT AND CONTRADICTING THOUGHTS
gen 4, the plan is extreme but it works.
>also Sw/Sh has a more interesting one
lol
>It feels like they just copy pasted the way Alola handled its evil teams, except they screwed it up half the way in.
Except at least in Sun and Moon, Team Skull were basically just mercs that had a heavy presence in the story. Team Yell is completely unrelated and you fight them what, four times total? And your impetus for storming Rose Tower is just because Leon was late for fucking dinner?
It was fucked up right from the get-go because Team Yell has NOTHING to do with Rose, and that's just on top of the fact that they're bar none the worst evil team in the entire franchise, mainline or no. Even Team Flare took over a power plant or something.
SM, BW
Rose's lapse in judgment is trying to summon Eternatus period, him not being able to wait less than 24 hours to solve a crisis 1000 years in the future is just fucking stupid.
Nation wouldn't really have a future if his plan failed completely and Eternatus wasn't taken care of. I should also point out that it curbstomped the fuck out of Leon, so Rose can't plan for shit. If Hop and the player hadn't thought to seek out the wolves, Galar likely would've been razed.
Soccer sucks and is out of place in Pokémon.
All the gym leaders look like they've come out of a circus.
Pretty sure Pokemon doesn't take place in the real world. Are you stupid or something?
This, and his subsequent actions make no fucking sense, nor does he seem to feel any remorse for awakening Eternatus, who would have destroyed the whole country and even more so if it were not for the miraculous intervention of the dogs.
>SM
SM's villain was a crazy beauty-obsessed bitch hopped up on alien jellyfish venom
That's not a lapse in judgement, Rose was just a dumb baby that couldn't bother with waiting an extra day to get what he wanted. It's forced conflict for the sake of conflict.
