Because after nearly a decade of P4, people got themselves hyped up, and it ended up just being another entry into the series, not notably better than its predecessor.
It did however gain a lot of popularity due to a large new audience playing their first Persona game, which would make older fans just more upset this game is getting so much praise when previous entries that were just as good never got.
It'll be interesting to see what happens once P4G becomes far more accessible.

p4 was a game on the ps2, of course people are going to praise and talk about p5 its a fairly recent game
in 10 years no one will talk about p5 because there will be p6 for people to enjoy, thats just the cycle of life but people just get so bitter over it for no reason

I'm an unabashed weeb and I'm fine with waifu simulators. I have my community. The embarrassing part of P5 isn't the highschool friend simulator shit, it's how awful the writing is.

Persona has always been anime cringe. There are some nice deeper meanings in some of the games but overall the character interactions and dialogue are beyond cringe.
