Which one, total war or WH fans? Too late for both

I'm having fun

Same. I guess we are dumb :(

It's been hilarious watching Shogun 2 babbies pretend TW:WH is completely to blame for the fanbase getting dumber

The sheer anal annihilation TWW has caused will never cease to amaze me. I thought Warhammer fans were autistic but they pale in comparison to Total War fans.

Is that what OP means?
It makes the TW players "dumber"? How so?
Hasn't TW always been pretty simple?

I even remember getting the Shogun 1 demo from a magazine and thinking that I dont like TW because its just focusing on too much troop movement instead of the, at the time, popular RTS macro/micro dynamic.

By now I'm big into TW again, thanks to Rome1, M2 and S2, but I dont think there's any TW game that's particularly more "dumbed down" than another.

/twg/ on /vg/ is now 95% WH posts.
Not even kidding. It's like Three Kingdoms never happened. It's like Shogun 2 or Rome never happened.

The only time they posted about something else instead of warhammer for a bit, was when they all laughed at the new Troy game.
TWW has toppled the whole franchise.

*dumbs down AND ruined total war forever*

>TWW has toppled the whole franchise.
And that shit will never stop being funny.

>One game is so fun it's all they talk about
While a shame, isn't it also both good and natural?

Pike and shot/medieval 3 could revive history as long as it isn’t saga bullshit but they insist on making everything not Warhammer fail

it's not on console yet, bro

The total war franchise for the last couple of years has been pandering more to the fantasy audience rather than the historical one, the last proper historical total war game (excluding thrones of britannia which was a spinoff and three kingdoms which was based off a novel) came out in 2015 so there's some people that are butthurt that they're not pandering to the historical fanbase just as much. Just ignore them.

No I love it. I've been fantasizing about a WH TW since Rome 1 or so.

Total War: Destiny, coming 2025
Complete with rotating out lords and units to save on filesize

I mean if you can't see the simplifcation, especially of strategic elements, between R1 and S2 then I'm not sure what to tell you bro

For a more direct comparison just look at R1 versus R2

FORMATIONS WEHN
TOTAL WAR ARENA 2 WEHN

I can see that. There's a lot of stuff I'm missing from old TW games.
But ignoring the things the new games added while just looking at the old things that got removed always feels off. Claiming that the new games even make people "dumb" when TW has always been rather shallow is even weirder.

Bros, I'm not gonna make it...
My Harkon campaign has been so unstable with CTDs while loading battles...

What was deep about Total War: Rome and Medieval 2's gameplay?

but muh unit variety

Attila was the best one. Shame it was unoptimized and buggy af.

TOMBCHADS
RISE

based

I dont think it was particularly "deeper". Those games had a completely different pacing and focus on different elements of combat.
Also: fucking ships and trade caravans on the world map.

CRASHING THIS WAAAAGH

The reason why WH was so well received is because for the fact all the races are so diverse, instead of human faction vs human faction like in the previous games, where their only difference is just a few unique units and bonuses and that's it. In Warhammer the developers could really play on the diversity, styles and uniqueness of each faction.

I agree, although i think the new stuff added is often simpler in nature than the stuff that is removed, the fanbase of TW games has always had pretentions of being this big brain community because they compared themselves to other RTSes at the time which ironically are more complicated on a mechanical level and have less broken AI

Anyone else disappointed by the in-game glossary? Can't find out SHIT about what it would be like to live in Sylvannia or w/e

I mean you're not wrong. Total War used to have some level of depth and complexity to it's campaign mechanics. With Warhammer II the only strategy is building a full stack, then replace the weaker units with stronger units, and when you feel overwhelmed build another full stack

Battles are still the same as always with a different flavor. Low tier units to soak damage, high tier units to flank, cavalry to kill archers/artillery and attack from the rear.

Warhammer 2's factions are fun for the flavor, but once you play the first 20-30 turns you realize it's the same shit everytime.

D-Did I do good Zig Forums? Difficulty was hard/normal, had just fought some greenskins before and I ambushed the fags, so garrison was nowhere near me to provide aid in time.

If it was so good, why has it completely faded from the face of the earth by now?

Everyone shat on Rome 2 yet Rome 2 still shows up in the top100 steam lists, while Attila is nowhere to be seen.

>ships and trade caravans on the world map
Those are the only palpable changes that I miss in TW2.

Give me a campaign roleplay idea. I keep map painting and I get bored quick.
Any Total War game, I have them all.

When three kingdoms was released and was so successful it was filled with people predicting the death of fantasy, now no-one gives a shit.
I'd be interested to see how many sales 3k dlc had compared to the latest lord-pack.

TW:WH is pretty much the dream game of my younger rts playing self.

>Total War used to have some level of depth and complexity to it's campaign mechanics.
In what alternative universe was this the true?
If anything, TW finally dropped the act of pretending that its true. Because ultimately it never was.

which beta do I opt in to to fix the fucking weapon power

>I agree, although i think the new stuff added is often simpler in nature than the stuff that is removed
Sadly this is correct. I'm not holding my breath for Warhammer 3 because of this, battles are still gonna be fun, but campaign mechanics are still gonna be as barebones as ever

1.9.2

Play as grom and try to “defeat” every single female lord

thats the worst part and I wish we had 2 generals
you cant discuss anything there
not even warhammer since its riddled with more waifufags than fucking overwatch
thats why they started coming back to Zig Forums and we have daily threads here

Why haven't they push that update out to the public?

KYS Warhammer trannies.

Three kingdoms was extremely badly mismanaged by CA though. Instead of continuining with a strong post launch support with what people wanted (more unique lords, more factions and interesting time periods) they did the Eight Princes DLC which was WAY too too late into the era and with only 8 unique officers since everyone else was dead, a battlefield mode that is fun for like an hour or two and the (awful) community manager chimped on Reddit because of a sexy mod.

They got back on track with A world betrayed and Mandate of Heaven, but the first year of support was a total fuck up.

Cope harder faggot

>its a quote and wojack post

just search for warhammer RPG books, they read like travel guide

Anyone else have an issue with the game shutting down their pc while playing? I've checked the forums and it looks like a pretty prevalent problem. I thought it was overheating issues due to my new graphics card, so I bought a new heat sink, but it still shuts down. I even reinstalled the game and it keeps happening.

small indie company, please understandu

>dumping down
>total war series
Those games were always simple as fuck.

you're fucking kidding right?

Why is there a total Warhammer thread on Zig Forums?

PEASE DADDY CA, GIVE ME MORE DLC CUMMIES, I'M SUCH A DLC SLUT
>the average Warhammer player

wegh

Total War was my favourite vidya series but I only like the historical titles and it looks like they're moving away from that now

Maybe it's time to move on

Is there a route to acquiring this booty? Preferably with as little swashbuckling as possible

I had that issue last week before patch. Try down clock your CPU or look away from explosion effects

I've played every Total War game since the original fucking Shogun 1 and to somehow suggest that any of those have more complexity than Warhammer 2 is retarded.

Attached: 3ewk9y.jpg (250x246, 11.63K)

fuck, I thought that was my video card crapping out

>getting constant new content is a bad thing
ok

because everywhere is better than /twg/

You used to unlock new factions by actually playing the game. Also, hope you enjoy having major bugfixes and patches tied to DLC releases and having the entire game balanced around the whims of a dozen multiplayer autists on Reddit.

libgen.is
it ruined melee system completely. removal of fort to city conversion vice versa, limited modding

I love both historical and fantasy games, but man, being in the same fanbase as the mentally ill bootlickers that browse /vg/ (some which are probably also /tg/ fags) really hurts, like a mix of sadness and second hand embarrassment

Total War audience took a massive nosedive that it will never recover from, which is unfortunate because it's one of my favorite franchises.

Can someone edit a smile on to Gelt for me

It's an okay outcome, although him having no artillery and no cavalery while you had two mortars units meant he was doomed from the start. It seems your frontline was nearly overrun by its infantry, though (which is to be expected since you fought in a 1:2 infantry ratio). Hardest AI may have used that advantage to keep your frontline busy and spill the rest of their infantry on your archer immediately, which would have been very ugly for you.

They do, but not that much. Three Kingdoms kinda introduced a really tight diplomacy for the series as well as some interesting mechanics but CA being incompetent as usual butchered the chance for history games to take off with good post game support

I liked Empire

Maybe because Three Kingdoms is kinda... eh. It's getting there but it would have probably generated a lot more buzz if it was like that on release instead.
As for the other games, what did you expect? Old singleplayer games won't get talked about forever. Try any other general, the most recent game is usually the main topic of discussion.

mmmm grayons

Let's do this Zig Forums

LOL This for sure. I thought Warhammer boys were sweaty as fuck until I saw that historyfags are on a whole other level.
