Silent protagonist in RPGs

>silent protagonist
>in a tales of game
Why is this cancer in games still? Did WRPG's make this dogshit popular? This is only my 2nd tales of game but one of the highlights of ToX was the fact the cast interacted with each other and had great heartfelt moments. Where the fuck is the logic in breaking the immersion and just making this another boring silent protagonist game? Theres not a single good game that has a silent MC. What's the point especially in a series that takes pride in having great casts with good VAs?

Silent MCs are best
Doesnt Link win like ever character poll on gamefaqs for the past 20 years or something like that

>Theres not a single good game that has a silent MC.

>Zelda
>Pokemon
>This fucking game
>Half Life
>Doom
>GTA 2001
>Fucking Mario

I can go on

Ludger is the best Tales MC though

That game is eight years old bro

>Muh voice
silent is better anyway. And the MC actually does have a personailty if you bother to look

Silent MCs are based.

if you actually played the game, the silent mc is done on purpose so you don't get story spoiled immediately. plus there's a new game + option to turn on ludgers voice.

Ludger actually isn't a silent MC
But he doesn't talk until NG+

>not wanting to self-insert
Why

>plus there's a new game + option to turn on ludgers voice.
So he actually does have a VA? Is there a reason for him being silent on your first playthrough? What's the point of locking his voice behind NG+?

I can't self insert with a silent MC. I find a lot harder to self insert in games where I dont speak

Don't mouse over if you don't want the plot spoiler
Because him and one of the primary villains are the same person and you'll figure that out if you hear him talk

play the game and find out or go spoil it if you're impatient

I wish OP was a silent protagonist

Jannies removed thread I wanted to reply in with pic rel, so please appreciate this ToX2 DS3.

That doesn't make any sense. A character with an actual pre-defined personality and characterization of their own by definition prevents true self-insertion because once a character has a personality and makes actions of their own, they are no longer a stand-in for the player. You're not the MC, you're just following their story.

Oh i didnt know it was because of the plot I thought it was just another case of lazy devs. That's not too bad then. I jumped the gun making this thread only being 5 hours in. The game is fun though.

Congrats retard, your impatience ruined one of the best twists in the game

dumbass

I didnt read the spoiler I'm not that retarded

>one of the best twists in the game
>super evident one
Xillia 2's plot is already crap anyway.

It's not THAT evident because the game goes out of its way to make it seem like you're unique to just your universe as there seems to be no proof of your existence in any other dimension, so it's a shock when you actually run into another Ludger

Abyss and Symphonia are the only games with a good story

KotOR did the same thing, but since KotOR was my 1st WRPG, I assumed the reason the MC didnt talk was for this reason as well.
But it also didnt help that the other character didnt talk either.
Took all of just the tutorial area/flashback to realize the primary plot twist.

No Kotor made it obvious with the constant flashback dreams that only Revan would know

phantasia

Am I a brainlet for not understand Allium Orbs? This is so confusing compared to Lillium orbs. Do the extractor's give me new artes? Because when i equip breeze I dont see Lunar Reflection in my artes sceen

That's bulshit excuse imo. They can make make it less obvious using mask, voice changer or something else. And did you try to play NG+ with his voice enabled? It's just recorded answers which played on static screen it feels like shit honestly.

Abyss was the only tales of game, which its plot was memorable for me.
I honestly have NO idea what the plot of symphonia is... cant even recall small story segments either...
i remember the characters looks, and some combat options for them, but thats it. i also played through it roughly 1.5 times.

abyss i didnt even finish (didnt care for the gameplay) but i remember that story far better.

vesperia had one of the worst stories, but its voice acting, and more interesting character interactions made me remember moments of character interactions really well (dont remember the actual plot though) i also remember the combat more, since it made the cast have the most distinct combat playstyles of all the games, so when i played with friends, i actually wanted to switch up who i mained as. (also the only tales game i went back to play again in the hard mode)

anything past vesperia i havent touched yet.
i do actually own xillia, and berseria (got them for like $5) but just hadnt had the motivation to touch them, since i know all tales games start off extremely boring, before the plot picks up. and i always heard mediocre things about them.

but i have no idea why ppl talk so positively about symphonia.
its not bad at anything (other than being corny as hell) but its not great at anything either.
for a tales game, its the most average in all categories. i think its just ppls 1st tales of game, so it got a lot of attention. (my 1st was phantasia, which i hated, then destiny, which i also hated)

good point.
i didnt see them as flashbacks that the MC was seeing.
I was used to animes which just showed flashbacks, that the MC wasnt seeing.

but the MC does mention it, but i had already figured it out before thinking to question why they saw them. (other than maybe assume it was some force power lol)

The assumption is they're supposed to be Bastilla's memories at first because you share a link with her and she gets the same dreams as you. But then you start getting flashbacks of just Revan and Malek that you couldn't possibly know without being Revan.

The twist was a surprise for me cause i played pirate version where all the movies were cut because the game couldn't fit on cd disk.

you have to get the elemental points from battles or from the shiny points on the map

Oh I'm fucking retarded now i get why i keep getting those ores. Sometimes its hurts being this dumb
