They seem to be in a perpetual uphill battle to retain players. Sure you may buy MK11, Tekken 7, or Guilty Gear but majority of you just stop playing. Millions of sales and only like a couple lobbies open. What brought you into trying them but what ultimately made you go "This isn't worth it."
Why do you hate fighting games?
I learn the game until I’m satisfied with my level of skill, play for a little more and drop it. Then start over when the next fighting game comes out next year or whatever.
because i spent about 50 hours playing with Seung Mina in Soul Calibur 2 to get really good with her, actually winning some tournaments at my pokemon card tournaments.
then SC3 changed everything. I'm still shittershattered
Heh, ryu go haduken
These threads and the "SF3 wasn't da hoog success u thot it wuz!" Threads are awful. Anybody who was around in '97 remembers how badly SF3 flopped, mainly because of the shitty new characters that nobody recognized and more technical gameplay. From that point forward it was 3D fighters that dominated until SFIV came out. I don't hate fighting games, SFV was so much of a let down that I gave up on the genre I've been playing since the original SF2. Also esports killed all the hype st live events.
why are you so autistic?
How many times are you going to keep making this thread? Were the DP and "Why fighting games are hard" not enough for you?
SF3 fans are in denial about its failure though
I like SF2 and SF4. I just hate everything else
Fighting games aren't special. Sometimes I'm in the mood for them, sometimes I'm not. I enjoy them very much when I do feel like getting into them, but it's a mistake to think they're a full-time occupation unless you're a pro. Shit, even pros experience burnout and play other games. I'd bet money the people who ask "why don't you play fighting games all the time" are the same people who complain about "plateaus." Do the math.
I don't. I just think 2D fighters are boring as shit compared to 3D fighters.
Focus on sikk combos and grinding tech rather than mind games and good neutral
Cluttered visuals and over the top moves
Unappealing characters(no meat and potatos guy)
Only way to play is online, online is unsatisfying
Bad community that is either asocial autistic or obnoxious who see giving advice as aiding the competition so they avoid it
Modern fighting games dont seem to care about amplyifing the social aspect. Players may as well be bots. I don't like grinding.
Whats with Zig Forums and hourly "why dont you play fighting games" threads
playing fighting games online is utter cancer
Everyone in fighting games is so busy on the 'esports grind' or are trying to position themselves to be personalities that they forget to act like human beings
The only game ive liked is melee because it feels so much more freeform and the movement feels better.
Ever since i was a kid i had a problem with real fighting games. They feel so stiff and limited that i dont feel any incentive to dig into their depth because its not fun
What's worse is if you don't posture in the same wannabe-stream personality, infallibly-knowledgeable-about-the-game facade, and God forbid you turn out to be wrong about some kind of tech or matchup, you might as well look out for the tiny car with the clowns to come pouring out because the circus just came in town. Fighting gamers love to neg on people who beat them in any other area they can even if it's auxiliary to the act of playing the game.
This mostly seems to be a problem with the big name FotMs though. Players of more obscure shit will be glad just to have more players, and people on FC are generally surprisingly chill, even the killers who've stayed on A3 since it came out. The main exceptions besides the occasional sad weirdo is mostly people from Brasil or Argentina, probably because their arcade scenes kept active and they're used to popping off with people in-person.
Because you can't do anything if you're bad, and it takes way too much effort to get good.
At least in a military shooter if you're dumb and lazy, you might still get to shoot some guys.
Call me casual, I don't give a fuck.
it's just some low effort troll
/r/kappa morons that discovered fighting games a couple months ago and want to brag about how hardcore they are as a 3s/tekken/gg "player"
>"player"
See, no. This is more of a problem than anything. You'd have to be crazy to play the exact same game all day and convince yourself you aren't doing something extremely boring, unless it's your eight-hours-a-day to keep food in your mouth.
Zig Forums is made up of hardcore gamers, broseph
at least it is when some whiny games journalist is complaining about how ableist Sekiro or Cuphead are, or when Sony puts out another $60 cutscene compilation.
Otherwise this board will gladly stick to games that take no brainpower whatsoever (e.g. Animal Crossing)
So fightan is out of the question
I did that as a kid easily and still do now. Not even fighting games where youre incentivized to do so
>
i don't hate fighting games, i love fighting games. stop making these threads with this false narrative, you fucking homo faggot.
AC is fun
it's funny, people here will admit word for word that they hate fighting games because they're too hard and require too much practice, and two threads over people will be bitching about accessibility features in a ps5 movie-game because it makes it too easy and casual lmao. "durr v idnt 1 guy xdDDD" yeah yeah yeah shut the fuck up moron we all know it's the same dipshits
lmao shut the fuck up faggot poser you probably suck ass at kof too
>point out vee's poser tendencies
>"n-no u!"
typical
>wow Zig Forums is so casual but they don't even play le fightgames? unlike me they don't play muh epic hardcore genre? wow sounds like u aren't so good after all vee... xD
lmao I would destroy you in kof too
This.
Zig Forums brags about being a hardcore community but is every bit as casual as everyone else.
>but Dark Souls
That's a single player game where the enemy AI is completely braindead, you have infinite lives and infinite retries, there is no defeat condition, you can grind your wait to victory and you can even bring another player to clear the game for you.
If your skill at games is anything like your reading comprehension I don't have a god damn thing to worry about from you lol
True but I can't help it, nobody to play irl.
Once you've put the time in to really learn fighting games and play against others of similar skill no other pvp experience really compares.
Zig Forums is the most casual place I've ever seen. there are people here that vehemently hate multiplayer. co-op, versus, etc. there are people here that exclusively play JRPGs and VNs. this is the most concentrated solution of casuals on the planet, the only thing to rival Zig Forums in terms of being garbage at video games is probably a nursing home after a covid outbreak
Which is exactly why fighting games (or any competitive game, really) are superior if you want a challenge. You can predict how an opponent will do something, but you can never guarantee it or prepare for every option. If I get my ass handed to me by a computer, I figure out how it works and exploit it.
i really love how every discussion about fighting games being unapproachable is that "oh people just hate doing inputs". the problem isn't the input commands, it's that the games encourage labbing that makes the experience unfun for casuals and that the games live and die by player v player gameplay, which can suck especially bad when half of them have spotty to dogshit netcode.
