The whole point in persona is jungian psychology. People have good parts and bad parts to them but peoples shadows (bad parts) went beserk on them when they rejected their bad parts. For equilibrium people need to embrace both before unlocking their Persona. The first part for me to improve as a person is to accept I have bad parts in me before improving as a person and moving forward.

The point to Adachi is he was so set in his ways and didnt want to change. Instead of being the positive change he wanted to see in the world he just wanted to hurt people and bitch like the world owed him something. In the end he learned nothing and was consumed by his rage.

Adachi is unironically one of the best Persona sub-series antagonists since the Persona 2 duology. I'm still baffled how they managed to screw up Persona 5's antagonist(s) that badly though.
