I'm replaying DoW 2 right now, wanna finish it and then move onto finishing Mechanicus. Forgot how edgy Cyrus was

can we please get a good 40k that isn't 40 thousand years old? I can only play DOW2 so many times until it drives me crazy
>I can only play DOW2 so many times until it drives me crazy
DoW2 once was enough
Get BFGA2
Well Inquisitor Martyr is also pretty fun, and Mechanicus is also good albeit a bit easy
DoW Dark Crusade's kino
Space marine is great
DoW UA is probably the best 40k game there is
Mechanicus is fun
Deathwing's good
So much good. Just not enough
There's too much potential in 40k for vidya that's just untapped. More orthodox stuff like Space Marine 2'd be great, something out there like a 40k horror game would be fantastic
Imagine you're some shithead cogboy in a manufactorum of a hive and the planet's under siege by chaos. It'd be like Alien Isolation with all the gadgets but without the extra padding, running around like Isaac Clark jerry rigging shit, apologizing to machine spirits when you jerry rig shit, getting chased in the dark by Night Lords that you can only hear the chainswords of
All kinds of shit. Having to venture into the underhive and being surrounded by chaos ritual shit, being trapped in a sewer/exhaust system with a huge chaos beast, so much shit you could do with one premise alone
But GW would rather jerk off to primaris sales and use crayons to write the fluff for another dozen primaris lieutenants rather than commission fantastic games.
Recently started to play that.
So far it's been pretty good. But the game still has a lot a graphically hiccups.
I'm playing DoW3 for the first time, I got it in a humble bundle a while back.
It's alright (campaign). I hugely prefer DoW2 of course, but I think it's failure was more due to releasing a competitive-focused RTS in the year 2019. The strategy games that succeed today are all singleplayer-focused; Total War, Civ, Stellaris.
So it's strange they strayed away from DoW2, which has a fantastic singleplayer/coop experience through the campaigns and Last Stand. Ahead of its time, really.
YOU HAV CAPTIN DIYOMADEEZ
Well people bitched and moaned endlessly about how DoW2 was a moba and not true RTS and how they wanted large scale battles back. So in the vein of modern RTS games, Relic went "fuck it" and just made DoW3 a huge mess of blobs shooting each other and splattering, completely missing the point of what made the first DoW good
I bought Deathwing for $14 on that sale for me and a few friends. Pretty fun.
I'm currently replaying DoW2 Choas Rising. Just replayed a DoW2 a couple days ago and really enjoying things. I've specced my squads full ranged for maximum dakka blob.
I hope we get another DoW2-like game. Even if it's not 40k. People say CoH is similar, but not in the campaign. If there's any game out there like the DoW2 campaigns let me know. DoW2 is one of my favorite games of all time.
I need to replay, but I remember Thule being a god in both DoW2 and CR if you specced him ranged.
All I ever wanted was for a Dawn of War game that was more like CoH than a moba.
Cyrus was also really broken with how you could deploy explosive strikes all over while in stealth
I bought DoW3 at release and encountered a progress halting bug in one of the campaign mission. Maybe I should reinstall that dogshit game just to remind myself to never trust Relic again.
Dawn of War 2 was always far too small scale and moba-ish. The fans of the first game literally never asked for it.
Playing Mechanicus, might just be my favorite W40K experience to date. The music, sound design, writing and just the overall atmosphere is spot on and, dare I say, comfy.
Is DoW 3 worth it only for the campaign?
I can't speak to release, but I got it for very cheap and I'm enjoying campaign. Overall it seems like a 6.5/10 game, a perfectly fine RTS campaign, just not what anyone wanted from DoW3 (feels closer to Starcraft). If it were a new game and not an entry in an existing series it probably would have gotten a decent reception.
it's a fun game, but endgame is beh and story ends sadly not very well. But had myu moneys worth. Also dat flamer on crusader and good dialogue.
Based
I got the game basically for free and it's not as bad as people make it out to be.
The combat is more akin to Starcraft with its weird health bars and the ballistics / lazers feeling like they have no impact. in DoW1 you know exactly how much damage you're dealing, with what unit, who you're targeting, units are better and easier to move, in 3 it's all a clusterfuck even when they tried to make it smooth
Maybe if they released a good 40k game people would actually tlak about it
Also I hate Mandalore for selling me on Mechanicus because its a very boring game
was pretty sad seeing him torn up by a nid after having taken him through the kronus campaign
I've been interested in 40k lately, where do I begin because there's a fuckton of games.
D44M inspired Space Marine FPS when?
Dawn of War and Space Marine
Is there a modding community for DoW 3? It should have been long enough for someone to make the game into something bearable.
>that is complete heresy!
Ayy.
Last Stand in Retribution is my favourite game mode
youtube.com
>SHATTER THEIR SKY
>Tfw
Dawn of War 1 and 2 had some pretty amazing voice acting
I feel bad for fans of the first game that never got a true sequel, but DoW2 is fucking great on its own merits. They could exist as two entirely separate series and I'd be interested in both.
