Guys I enjoyed Death Stranding and want to get into MGS. Do I emulate the original MGS or The Twin Snakes?
Twin Snakes. Most have largely replaced the original with it because of how much of an improvement it is.

It ruined MGS2 ending of continuing the story when it didn't. When Raiden, the person who representative of the player throws away our names, it was a meaningful way of Raiden not letting him be controlled anymore and made us question what was truly real and what should we pass onto the future instead of DNA.
MGS4 only exists because some retards hated that MGS3 was supposed to be the final game in the series, so they had to sent death threats to Kojima about it.
I hope whoever sent the death threats feel regret now that they're the reason for MGS4 existence.

i replayed mgs4 a few days ago after not playing it since around its launch and i still enjoyed it.
that whole shadow moses part still gave me the chills.
Original. Twin Snakes makes a lot of changes that range from novel to weird to downgrades.
if you have time, play the original and then twin snakes. just to see the changes.

MGS4 was the first and only metal gear game I've ever played and I loved it
I only own PC now but yeah way back then I had a PS3 and figured why not give it a shot, and despite being out of the loop story wise I really enjoyed it and I remember getting choked up at the end

Don't listen to the retards. MGS is MGS. If you want the 3D game that started it, play it. Twin Snakes was a shoddy reimagining with redubbed voice and super goofy mocap and its all based on MGS2 engine and mechanics, which completely ruins the MGS1 experience and design. I'd wager most people haven't even played Twin Snakes.
You wanna play the real MGS? You gotta play MGS1. There's only one.

Honestly, I can see why people who grew up with the original prefer it but as someone that played through the series for the first time about 5 years ago, twin snakes is much more palatable for a newcomer
