Even if it was, it was still pretty early in development and they had plenty of time to take feedback and make changes. Wasn't that going to be the whole purpose of the demo they cancelled?

The game was never greenlit to go into full production to be a retail product. He just announced the development of the prototype publically.
He then left the company because he firmly believe Capcom wouldn't call his bluff and can the game. I don't remember what interview it was where he said he was willing to continue working with Capcom on the production on the game with his new founded studio. That all blew up in his face when Capcom cancelled the project.

Personally I can understand the PR hellhole for MN9, but nothing excused the shit that is the game itself. Literally made anime fans that backed it cry like it's prom night

SF4 hurts so bad. Hey, at least sf ended in a high note with SF3. I hope those guys doing a fan deluxe version of sf1 do the same with sf2 or at least release a patch for the encounter rate...
I thought SF4 only got as far as a few concept artwork being produced and a scenario pitch. The one being pitch was so fucking retarded that I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason it got canned. And if it was, then good riddance. What a stupid fucking follow up that would have been.

MML3's got a decent chance of happening someday if the inevitable Legends Legacy Collection sells well and the current team handing Mega Man feels confident in doing a 3D title, right now is too early though. All about baby steps, that's why 11 was the first new Mega Man Game.
Mega Man 11 already feels like ages ago. These are more like fetus steps. Capcom needs to pick up the pace if they're actually serious about Mega Man again.
We have yet to see even a glimpse of MM9 or even the BN gacha

I gave up on it when it was canceled for good, and now considering how most old series are going to shit due to not having the original team members anymore, I think it was for the best.
And I say this when I literally cried over that game being canceled.
Capcom just wants the series that will surely give them money, which is why they are remaking RE games, and havent done a sequel to Dragons Dogma yet.
